This is someones pet you are all talking about, the op may have children who are asking about their cat everday and are upset he hasn't come home.

I would put an ad in the Daily Mail, put up missing posters around Greatfield shops and bus shelters etc, phone all the vets in the area in case someone has taken him there and call all the rescue centres. When I worked at a vets we had a lost/found book that we would register animals so vets do keep a record of phone calls.

Good luck in finding your boy. I sympathise having had a pet go missing, I know how you are feeling.

I like them, but I don't think I'd post on an internet forum read by less than 0.0001% of the population in which I'd lost mine if it went missing, and I don't think I'd be getting all self-righteous about people having a bit of fun about the subject neither.

I don't think implying that the op checks all the chinese takeaways in the area incase his cat has been cooked is being self-righteous or funny, I think its about sensativity, something which some posters on here know nothing about. Your joke about ringing him was mildy amusing, others about chinese resaurants were not.

Definitely put posters up around the area with a photo of the cat on. You could also think about adding a note asking people to check in their sheds/garages and that or maybe post some through peoples doors. I know of a cat a few weeks ago who went messing and it ended up that it was locked in someones shed. With bad weather it could have legged it in to get out of the rain and then the owner could have shut it in by mistake. Is it microchipped? or does it have a collar on with your details?

Like people have said, posters and ringing local vets would be a good place to start, as well as contacting the local papers. In addition, walk down the street and inform your neighbours, incase they see him in the area.
