Dont think an unfair trade law breach would be signed by anyone but if all the clubs agreed and had an understanding to abide by it then fair enough.

All clubs may sign it but it doesn't need to be a club that challenges it and that is the problem as it is unworkable in any european court.

Brian Carney said it a few years ago, I remember England walking around a pitch, can't remember the game, on the back of a thumping by Aussie. I dont know European law but surely if all parties competing agree to the rules set out there is nothing anyone can do to change that??? Or even add a rule that states that for every non British/French player over a set number incurs a mandatory 10 point deduction.

The law is an ass at times, and when we are trying to improve the quality of British/French players we find our hands tied by the bureaucrats it shows how daft it can be.

In both the Kolpack and the Bosman cases it was a player that won the case I belive.
Putting it bluntly if a player was to challange any ruling about the 'quota' that has been talked about on here with an aim to play in the SL he would win simple as.
Infact after seeing the RFL's reaction in the Mason case I doubt it would even go to court.
Again the deduction idea is a good one but could be seen as a means to restrict free trade unfortunatly.

And? Your chairman signed up in 2007 to close loopholes and get to 5 overseas players for 2011. He's not delivered, in spectacular fashion, in part due to an admin feck-up with Galea's passport. It's against the agreement Hudgell signed up to, and it's certainly bad for the British game, which was your original point.

As I have posted on the VT, you can now have a 25 man squad as follows:
8 homegrown players
5 Australians
12 Tongans
So if you don't have any injuries, you don't need to field any British players at all.

Scrapping the academy and spending the money scouting in the South Sea Islands would appear to be the way forward.

Barista , you may have a point there however the way we can beat Australia is by allowing players like Willie Manu to play for England . Follow the Australian way and the English cricket team.

Rovers have a squad of players just like any other RL Team, so expect the squad to be fully utilised depending on injury's.

I too emailed the RFL yesterday, they have been pretty quick to reply, so we'll see what comes of it.

I never said I want more overseas, it's more to find out whether the club with abide by the agreement in 2007 or are they going to say sod it, if the rules have changed again, we will take advantage of it. I'd rather the club just had 5 overseas players, made up of quota and non fed, none of this dispensation carp that we have.
