Can JA face a year of 'development' at Doncaster? His agent has floated the possibility of him seeing out his contract if needs be. Can Hull stand paying him a year's wage to do that, then losing him for nowt anyway? I doubt he's on a massive wage so it might not spite their face all that much.

However, it's clearly better for both parties to move on, and I'm pretty sure that'll push a deal over the line. A modest fee can remain undisclosed, if that saves blushes. A player swap might be an option

JA is a bit of enigma in the fact he has talent and potential but fails to deliver when the opportunity is there to take for him. With the loss of Sneyd, Kelly & Connor, Abdull has had a massive opportunity to shine and show his potential even with a poorly performing team. The fact he hasn't for me is quite telling as to whether he can or can't cut it at SL level.

I have some sympathy for him in that he's come back from injury into an appalling side. That said he's hardly raised his game and shone amongst all the crap.

This, and I also feel that in his mind, he would be thinking that even if he did have a great performance/s that he would still be down in the pecking order.

Even in the side they way they've played he should have been able to stand out in his own performances (and taking his long injury lay off into account) but he simply hasn't as you say shone which he should have been able to do regardless of the players around him.
It seemed before when he was younger it was down to the way he applied himself re his weight/fitness etc and just question whether he really has that true desire to push himself to the level required on a constant basis?
As I say he has the talent but there's something lacking in him.

Players sometimes flourish in different environments.

His weight & fitness hasn't been an issue for a long while but it took a while for him to address it which has now. However at SL level something is missing as he has the talent but just can not seem to take the opportunity when he gets the chance and stamp himself on a game and show he can play at this level. He's not played SL level at any club other than Hull FC so if its not down to application then maybe he just isn't a SL standard player? He seems to have the talent but can not put that into action so far in his career at SL level.

His weight and fitness problems were immediately resolved during his loan spell wit Rovers.

They weren't immediately resolved at Rovers. He'd already openly admitted he hadn't done enough over the years in terms of his weight & fitness and that he liked his junk food way before he'd gone on loan. So it's nothing to do with either Hull FC or Hull KR, it was due to his lack of application of which he admitted that much.

Get him signed up so you can have him assisting while you scrat around for SL surviva yet again next season.

From the bits and pieces I've read, Abdull's issue is that he needs to be playing. When he isn't, his focus drifts and and he gets down. As he's down the pecking order at Hull, and unlikely to get much game time when your more senior halfbacks are fit he wants to move to play more. I don't he's trying to screw Hull over - he just wants to play.

So he just wants to play, and if he doesn’t he’ll sulk.
The thing is, he’s had ample opportunity to make himself undroppable as we’ve lost our first three half backs but he hasn’t taken his chance.

It's not necessarily sulking - he just wants to go elsewhere, probably recognizing that at this stage in his career and without more chances to develop, he's unlikely to displace your incumbent halfbacks.

He may have admitted it earlier but nothing happened until his move. Even FC supporters posted to that effect at the time. He would not have got away with things with Tim Sheens. Radford must accept a lot of responsibility for allowing the situation tobdevelop. How can a coach allow a professional rugby player be overweight and unfit? The TS effect was also seen in the slimming down of Mose Masoe. He is now capable of doing more minutes more effectively than he did whilst at Saints.

Like Pearson said, he’s free to leave.

FC reportedly offered him a 2 year contract extension, he must have impressed to get that. Pearson’s spat reflects that. Cover for Kelly if the concussion problems don’t go away? Either way, he hasn’t done himself any favours and timing is awful. Whichever way you look at it he’s first choice halfback now and not excelling in the process. I like him but he’s taking an awful long time to mature.

Never seen him take on the line.All he has done is receive the ball and hand off to a forward.
Big left foot boot but not even a good goal kicker.

Nail on the head. Under Tim Sheens though he transforms into Thurston.

I'm not sure that even in his trimmer form JA is an 80 minute half back. His better attacking performances for Hull have often been coming off the bench and taking on the line after the arm wrestle stage. Defensively he struggles late in games. Being fit for Super league is a lot different from the Championship and I wonder if he has engine for the higher level, no matter how hard he trains. Some players (indeed most people) just don't have it.

As back up halves go we have Connor, an England International at 23 and Abdull at 22. I can see why a fuss would be made if Connor had asked to leave.

I spent a couple of hours with Abdull at the end of last season - he'd loved his time at KR, he was playing in his preferred position of half back and his girlfriends family were all KR and they all enjoyed supporting him playing in their team. At that time he was unsure what the future held other than Radford wasnt letting him leave though from what he said i think he wanted to stay at KR then and not come back to FC to be a bit part player. At KR hes almost a big fish in a small pond, at FC its the other way round

Let him go with no hard feelings imo. Lets not do what KR did with Taylor and block him from coming here. Were better than that

he is not coming to kr and when he played last year in the championship he was ok that's all ok radford obviously judged he was better than that but found out he isn't his mess your player end of story
