He did OK at Saints and, to a lesser degree, at Hull. Maybe the problem wasn't with him?

It's unbelievable that people believe all this tripe that they have read in the newspapers. If only you all knew the full story... you'd have a huge amount off egg to wipe off your faces.

As for the 'great coach'... he certainly didn't continue that at Salford.

FWIW - I loved the rugby we played under McRae and think we would have won the cup in '05 with the team that Kear had available to him. He was also great with the fans, great at fans forums etc so whatever you think of his time at Salford, its not going to tarnish the reputation he has with the Hull fans

That's fair enough,... and we are entitled to our opinions... however... I know exactly when he used to say and think about the fans... with no reason.

he was generally respected at Saints and did the job - he seems a really straight guy the times i've bumped into him so good luck to him

Talked to him a couple of times and a really nice bloke,always had time for the fans and was one of the few coaches at Hull who has had his name sung....We played some cracking stuff with McRae but ultimately won sod all with a superb squad.

Looking from the outside in....has Alker(who i believe isnt that popular and Bomber had a falling out with) and Simms(who is a total to$$er imo) got anything to do with it?

Very brave to speak in public about his illness, I suspect a book about the challenges he faced will be on the shelves very soon. Along with Sky TV pay and a payoff from Salford he hasn't done too bad.
If the illness hadn't come along and Salford ended the season 9th or below, who would have taken him on as head coach?

I'm no mug and neither is Shaun Mcrea. Maybe Salford isn't a nice place to work, I don't know, and maybe he has been ill for a while. He seems fine now though and that's good, hopefully the cheque will help.

Just reading the garbage you've written about the bloke, I'd suggest he had every reason if you're indicative of a Salford fan

I don't often post on here, but on this occasion I am going to do, having worked along side this guy I can only say the bitterness is Salford's.

He was always professional, had the players respect and was loved by all who came across him, one of his great qualities was not suffering fools, so perhaps we need say no more!

If Salford need to ask any questions just look at the way they have treated other members of staff in the past.

Shaun has had a lot of personal stuff going on for some time, so at some point it was going to affect him too.

Good luck to the guy, he gets all my best wishes, even if only for the 6 month long leaving do we had for him.

Well... You didn't work with him at Salford... things were much different there believe me. I can't speak for what he did at Hull.

Well cod` ead you are wrong to make this assumption. S Mc was having a tough time this season with so many new players - the atmosphere until his `sick leave ` was awful - he was producing a dire form of RL which would only have been appreciated by Stevie Wonder - players had lost their respect and consequently results suffered in this most important season. He agreed a deal to leave in the last few days and maybe surprisingly was signed off by his Doctor soon after. You can make your own assumptions just as the Salford fans have made theirs.

All i can say is its a good job he has left then if thats what he gets off you t0$$ers.......hope he had a smile on his face on friday as we was doing you.

Have you considered that the reason for the problems ? he was clearly suffering!! when people are struck with mental illness they are the last to realise there is a problem, hence there are generally casualties along the way, work colleagues/families...There are no assumptions to be made when dealing with people suffering from illnesses people!

They have there own agenda with him and dont care about facts......just shows what a pi$$pot club they are and would love to see them go out as well.

You clearly have absolutely no idea about the 'facts'... It's because of the facts that we are how we are about him. You don't know what you are talking about... not a clue. You are assuming that everything was all one way against him, and are basing everything on his time at Hull... which was clearly a completely different matter altogether. Seriously... you have no idea... if you did... perhaps you would be a little less judgemental about the Salford club.
