Does anyone remember last year?

Do you? The awful start? Injury problems? Poor results?

Do you remember saying Sharpe wasnt good enough?
Do you remember saying Kear wasnt good enough?
Do you remember saying McRae wasnt good enough?

So (and i say this as a Hull fan), we've had one of the best starts in our history. We've played some good rugby, we've played some crap. But still a good start.

SO WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM................!
Do you want FC to be the Harlem Globetrotters of Rugby?
Do you want FC to play entertaining Rugby all the bloody time?

Or do you want them to win? Because Hull havent got the types of player to set the game alight?
Hull are a workmanlike team, they grind down the oppo and grind out a win. Every coach has been dealt this hand and every coach has tailored the game plan and tactic to accomodate this.

You could of course be like Huddersfield, play expansive, daring Rugby and lose each week, run it on the 6th and hope.

Or you could be Hull.

Choice is yours - but as fans, you have to recognise the players we have, the type of game capable with these players, and more importantly, whether you want to be entertained, or win?

All I want is 100% effort every game.No team is going to win every game they play,no matter who they are.

Personally I think this season our performances are far better than at the same stage for last year.We have a new halfback partnership that will probably need half the season playing together to start giving us the improvements we need consistently.

SL as a whole with be a far more even comp this year and that is only good for the game and us spectators.

It will be a interesting season for sure and as long as we are competing for the top 8 come the end of the season I will be happy.Preferably a top 4 spot but lets be realistic we finished 11th last year so top 8 would be a improvement.

err is that the same huddersfield who have won their last 3 and sit 3rd in the table???????

You want to see a team with problems? Wait until you have seen us (Salford) this weekend - you'll soon realise you may have a couple of temporary lapses in form this year but no more than that!

The only perspective i need is that we are a better team than our last 2 results. Last season is irrelevant, as is any other club in the league to us. At the end of the day you play what is put in front of you, and we've lost 2 winable games that would have left us top due to poor performances. I dont mind losing if we play well.

The team will have peeks and troughs. Thats sport - and if as fans you cant realise that, then youre a bunch of blinkered idiots!

Life is a lot worse when your heading in the wrong direction.

Amazingly...........AMAZINGLY..........(and this may come as a complete shock to some of you people).......but there are 13 other teams in this league doing their hardest too............if you think we're gonna have it our way, all the time.............youre sadly mistaken and need to go back to playing your silly computer games.

Quality rant is that, but i think it's a little extreme given it is only a minority of people who are actually lambasting our current situation - with most people significantly more optimistic then they were before the season started.

I'm with you . It's easy to pick holes in everything. They should change it into our national sport. I reckon we could win at it: in fact we could supply all the players for the national team from West Hull. What do the Aussies call us? Oh yes, Whingeing Poms!

Excellent post. Some on here would still be pi$$ing and moaning about the players, coach and club on a daily basis if we were playing like Saints at their best every week, turning in a £1million profit annually and had 5 current Aussie internationals occupying the quota spots.


We have a work-in-progress half back combination, are missing our 2 best outside backs through injury and in theory have two top drawer forwards to come in to bolster a pack that has frankly done far more in the first 5-6 games than I would have thought they were capable of. Yes, the effort was missing last week and, yes, the bench selection and rotation are baffling at times, but overall things for us are better right now than for a lot of clubs in the same "expectation" bracket, i.e. Warrington, Wigan and Bradford. We must win on Sunday, end of story, then let's take it from there.

Much too sensible for this lot , top post though.

It does begin to grate after a while though. We have to face up to the fact that we are [inot[/i a top team. (At this moment in time)

Given the start we had, if it had been the other way round, some people on here would be out buying socks by the dozen.

If you support Hull Fc, you learn to take the rough with the smooth.

And, compared to last season things are kinda smooth right now.

With the team we have I am very happy with the start, I still think this year is a building season (4th-7th) and hopfully with a couple of top signings (Half back, Centre or Full back) plus Crocker for next season we will be challenging again.

I'm not denying there's been a bit of an overreaction to the Quins game - I was guilty of it myself in the immediate aftermath. I think the explanation has been hit on by someone on another thread, though - last season is so fresh in the memory than anything that even [ihints[/i of us falling back to those levels gets folk very worried very quickly. And the Quins game looked a LOT like last season TBH.

Add the whole Crocker saga, Lauiki still not here, and a tough set of games over Easter...

It's hardly surprising that there's some panic in the air.

Good post, we don't have any god given right to win games and just because we have won 5 in a row does not make us a top 3 team. We have started well especially hen you consider we have a new halfback combination which is tyring to gel and our major signing has yet to figure.

I don't like to see us losing games, especially ones we know we can win but it's going to happen.

The problem on here is we win a few games and expectations go through the roof, consequently we lose a few games and everyone is crap and the coach should be sacked.

Just to add.......I'm (we're) Hull FC, we have been to hell and back with this club, we have been from dare I say....boring to ecstacy with this club, we have had tears of sadness and tears of abserlute joy with this club....We are THE BLACK AND WHITES & BLOODY PROUD OF IT. We will never be St Helens and nor would we want to be (as good as they have been) , But even better than that......WE AINT HULL KR!!!!!
