rovers running a foundation academy this season , hull not, to be honest in under 16 league never seen hull down watching lads ,rovers been down a few times to watch, maybe sat back a bit too much because most lads i know are at rovers now and even left hull to go there

The results for Reserves or Academy dont mean anything all what you want to see is 2 or 3 players who could make the step up to Super League as not been harsh there are alot of players at Hull who are there simply to make up the numbers.

The standard of player in Hull at ages 15's and 16's is nothing special in all honesty hence why Hull dont bother watching those ages. The current 14's in the city on the otherhand have 5 or 6 very special players all at Hull.

Rovers youth recruitment is very poor still as they didnt even send representatives to the National and Regional Camps and they tend to go for quantity over quality unlike us who have signed 2 top prospects from Normanton from under the noses of Leeds and Bradford.

Good post, results are not particularly important outside of the first team. It's all about player development and if you are developing young players that are playing in the first team like Briscoe, Hall, Houghton, Burnett etc then it will leave the reserves a bit light.

I think Hulls reseves are struggling compared to recent years as they have lost a lot of players who had been together a long time, of which many are now plying their trade in lower leagues. There's been a gap as some of the lads who would have filled these places have stepped upto the first team.

Dont let facts get in his way of another dig at the club, if the opening poster actually made an effort to find out about the clubs youth policy and recruitment (Which is excellent) and went to watch some games they might understand what they are talking about.

Where did I say I was an expert? You have just looked at the results at the weekend and decided Hull's youth is rubbish. I can give you a few players who play for hull and have a good chance of making SL if you would like.

As HF said both squads have a mix of some top player will a load of average ones. as long as the good one progress the clubs recruitment is doing what it's meant too.

Hull have a much harder job now that Rovers are in SL, but currentley Hull are holding there own within SL, recruiting some of the best players in Hull and Yorkshire.

If you havent got time, dont watch the first team and apnd your time wtaching the Under 18's or reserves, far better value for money.

Rovers v's Hull under 18's at CP on the 7th of May shoudl be great game to watch.

attitude seems pretty arrogant dont you think, is it a wonder that the recruitment seems a second in the city,as for standard of players at 15 and 16 been nothing special you must be a better judge than me and i watch it every week,there is some good players at different clubs in the city and you cannot tell whos upto it until at least been 18 , and seems the lads at hull been used, to make up the numbers , i hope they read these comments

Richard Horne made his first team debut at 16. Tom Briscoe made his first team debut at 17. I could go on. Needless to say, your assertion that you 'cannot tell whos (sic) upto (sic) it until at least been (sic) 18' is utter nonsense.



Of course they're there to make up the numbers. Do you think there's a realistic chance that the whole of the academy squad will make the first team? If one or two a year break through, it's a good return. The rest are there to make up a team for them to play in.

And hopefully at that age rather then just think the team want me to make up the numbers I wont bother trying they will think , Well I will show them that I am worth more then that and do extra training ect that improves them significantly.
There is no point as a team having 10 players that will make SL as you couldn't realisticly bring them through together and you will then see nearby teams that are not known for giving youth a chance sign them up and claiming they have home grown players.

tom briscoe a winger , richard horne 10 years ago , todays players physically bigger and stronger, only a few at that age upto it ,not your main players halfs and forwards , still find the clubs attitude arrogant and may be the hull fc set up had it to easy in the past as the only super league club

As a rovers fan or parent of a player that hasn't been signed we can see why you would see it as arrogant

Hull Fc have been producing Good quality juniors since before we where in SL mate when the 2 teams where in the same divisions so I dont see your point?

Rocky is a Stand-Off and Jordan plays in the Backrow.

The fact only 1 player from the Hull area, Saul Beavis from Beverley, made it National Camp at 15's kinda backs up my point.

Thing is plenty of players who do make the camps don't make it to SL and plenty of players with little or no rep honours do make it to SL. The national camps are full of players who know people in the right places and always have been.

And who's is he signed up with again
