For me the signing of Washbrook suggests Westerman is going as otherwise signing him makes no sense. Why sign him as a third loose forward? Why sign him as back up second row when it isn't his best position and we already have plenty of back up?
However if we decide Abdul is our long term LF and is now ready for it...but obviously can't play the full season 80 mins every week...he will need some experienced support on and off the field...suddenly signing Washbrook on a fairly modest contract makes perfect sense.
As for Westerman, he's a good player but the dictionary definition of 'flatters to deceive', he will be up for auction in a a year when contract is up so we decide to cash in when we can. Radford is comfortable with this as he has rightly identified a culture of a lack of hard edged professionalism as behind our long term underachievement. Therefore out go those who don't fit in with that. Some fans don't like losing some of these players but are first to complain we lack the mentality of the successful teams.
