If its a surprise then it's rubbish.

Might be unfair to judge because we don't know as an assistant how much impact he has had but purely based on results you would have to say he has failed and is moving to a club who are more likely to be in the Top Division next season.

Lets be honest, a DOR role is more appealing than a Asst Coach....
So can't blame him tbf....

Luke Gale

Great guy by all accounts but unfortunately if he was as muted the attacking coach the players obviously didn’t respond to him ,or Mash for that matter so no great loss in the big scheme of things imo ,as we really can’t get much worse than we are . I’d like to think Gale will step up and help out on that front ,at least the guy has done it at the highest domestic level . We really are in a mess but considering what’s going on with our performances and our rapid descent towards the lower division ,this is but a blip

Thought we’d of had some sort of statement from the club regarding his departure and who his successor is.

Of course he would. He's already on the payroll as a player, so the club can further cut costs and badge him up as an assistant coach too.

What coaching ability and experience does Kirmond have to bring him in?

Jobs for the boys is exactly the culture I envisage the club are trying to break.

Im pretty sure Danny K has the same top level coaching experience as our head coach when he was appointed doesn't he?

Could it be that James left under a frosty atmosphere.

It could also be that everyone was sad and threw him a leaving party.

Whatever the reason he was obviously keen to leave because he also applied for the Castleford coaching post.

Is that 7/8 years coaching experience at Championship/Academy/reserves/assistant level?

We are talking about the assistant role though here. If Kirmond is qualified and has some experience along with the right attitude and personality to build the culture needed then great let him apply (if we are recruiting).

The club very recently became aware that James had agreed to join Featherstone Rovers for the 2024 season and after considering all the circumstances, we have agreed with James that he should leave with immediate effect. Wakefield Trinity naturally wishes to thank James for the hard work and enthusiasm he has brought to his role and wish him well in the future.

Options within our coaching team are being considered and further announcements will follow as and when any decisions are made.'
