Butler has been okay. He was solid against Wigan without doing anything special. In my opinion he needs a strict and heavy pre season for fitness and weights. He clearly lacks match fitness but it’s too early to judge just yet imho.

If this is true if i was Aydin i’d be running for the hills, think his contracts up isn’t it?

Given Fifita, Arona & Whitbread are shoe-in’s for 3 of the prop spots then for Aydin, Battye & Butler are every bit as good as Bowden for the other place. Shaw let nobody down when he got a got either. Will see if it happens but it would smack of panic and desperation if so.

Remember Shaw playing at Catalan and from what I saw that day he seemed to offer more than anything I have seen from Butler

Why would a team struggling with injuries and suspensions allow a player to leave albeit one they have been hawking around the leagues for quite sometime.

Completely agree. Thought he had a good game. The problem is, half the people making comments about Butler don’t know their a*se from their elbow when talking about RL! The poor lads career took a huge hit due to Covid and he hasn’t been given the game time or opportunities to get back on track. He played in the England knights squad at 21 after his first season in SL. There’s no way his career peaked there. Reckon he will prove to be solid signing next year.

6’2” experienced prop playing for a contract for 2023.

I can’t see why issue with him coming in short term, and maybe longer should he go well.

Think the issue issue is some think we should be signing luke thompson and josh papali ,bowden on loan for reat of season vould be good for me yes i like shaw and aydin but bowden has over 160 games in sl to his name experience could be vital

A bit of a similar story, both looked great in 2016/17, but picked up too many injuries. I honestly can't remember Bowdens last good game, probably 4 years ago. The fact we have just had two props suspended and we are releasing him, probably tells its own story.

Apparently according to some Trin fans you may as well be dead at 30. Incredible when you consider what an effect the much older Bill Ashurst once had on Trinity.

And no I’m not comparing them ability wise but age is not relevant so long as they are fit and want to play.

At 30 I suspect he still fancies a few more seasons. Frankly I don’t care if he just comes and plays his heart out to get a contract at the end of the season and we never hear from him again. So long as we stay up it’s money we’ll spent.

A possible good signing, as played in the props and at loose forward for Hull. Also had big game experience while playing for them, that could be valuable to us with the games coming up. I admit I haven`t seen him play this season, I think he got an injury , but always seemed to like taking the ball in. The change may do him good as he`s leaving a team that`s worse than Wakey on current form. Good luck Josh.

Plenty of super league experience ,a change of scenery, and hopefully we see a good solid prop going forwards People were saying the same when we got Washy and look what an astute signing he turned out to be . If he comes I’m all for it ,you just never know when injuries/suspensions are going to hit and we need players of his calibre to get us home and dry this season at least, and give us time to regroup .As sad as it is to see Tupou and Johnstone go it’s certainly given us some wiggle room to freshen up the squad ,and seeing how Trueman has just committed to Hull it’s a defo on the Miller to Cas saga ,so more incomings in the near future . Exciting times ahead .

I think it's more a case of some of the more recent examples Vasty.

We do have players in the squad, who are a shadow of what they were a couple of seasons ago, and part of this, sums up as to where we are with the position we are in.

Sadly, injury and age catch up with everyone.

He may go well, for the short term, but not sure that I would over the long term.

Hall has been good, Whitbread decent and it’s too early to say on Evans but overall i’d say it’s a mixed set to be honest.

Still really don’t see what Bowden beings to the party but there you go, time will tell.

Minns - hasn't worked but this is a player WP knew well so he clearly felt he was going to get better.
