| Just watching the Sheffield v Widnes game and Sheffield just scored a belter from the scrum.
They held the ball in the scrum until the runners got lined up and made a bus load of space. Quite a smart piece of play to hold the ball until three runners are running at pace on the outside of each other.
Love a good try from the scrum. Sheffield are finding a lot of space for their outside backs. I know it’s a different league but would love to see our outside backs get that level of service.

| And another from scrum. If Willie has a play book there’s some beauties on display from Sheffield tonight. A masterclass in how to create an overlap and space from a scrum.

Decent game i thought. Thought Aydin and Shaw were solid tonight. Will do Shaw the world of good to get some games under his belt.

Aydin was solid as a rock and Shaw took the ball up into the thick of it with his usual gusto. Enjoyable game.

| Has anyone managed to spot anything in our play that looks remotely like a well drilled playbook play, because i havent.
Not from the scrum base or anywhere else.

We haven't had anything like this since Sam Williams and Liam Finn left. Williams is one of the most underrated players we ever had and Finn guided us around the pitch. Since those 2 left we have not had a general to do that. (Brough wasn't on the field enough)

| Never mind scrums , when was the last time you saw any resemblance of an attacking line up when we have one of our rare forays into the oppositions 40 .The very Basics in RL but rare as hens teeth at the club

I don’t want this to turn into a bashing post but I must say I thought we started early season well drilled and looked like we were incorporating some semblance of attacking plays … switch plays behind the ruck and looked to be finding some reasonable space through passing across the line. We also looked quite well drilled in defence early season.
For whatever reason we seem to have fallen away from that and are struggling to get back to it. Since the games came thick and fast I think we’ve gone from looking well drilled to just coasting by on what looks like little prep work game to game.
It seems to me that we are firefighting poor performances when perhaps the best thing is to rip it up and go to basics and find a baseline then build slowly some basic attacking structures.
I completely accept that the coaches are the experts though and it’s just my opinion.

| One thing we only see when chasing the game is a short kick off. How many times would the kicking team get the ball on average? If you do, you will get a significant gain in metres for much less of a loss from the “normal” kick off. The short kick off seems to be almost the norm in Union.

Because everything you don't get the ball you give them really good field position.
You have to be confident that you'll score or get a repeat set to do it.
