| Cas announce Powell to leave at the end of the season. Rumours he’s off to Wire. Hopefully this means we can start beating them lot again.

| It looks like it doesn't it, I wonder if Danny Orr is kicking himself for leaving now.
Could be a good chance for Danny Ward or James Ford too.

| Realistically I think it is the right time for both Powell and Cas, he has taken them as far as he can with limited resources and to me have started to look a bit stale, he has been there 8 years which is long enough for any coach and Powell clearly has bigger aspirations.
Cas fans will be gutted, I think they know they are unlikely to get a better coach than Powell at the moment, although there are plenty of head coaches out there looking for a job. I hear from someone that used to play at the club and worked off field for a while that the board are a difficult bunch to work with...
On a separate note, Chester's deal is up at the end of the season, and Last only signed a 1 year deal, be interesting to see how long we leave it before looking at renewing his deal (I imagine the club will as long as we don't have a disastrous season).

Whether it's deliberate or not we've kind of already sorted things. If CC has a good season he will get a new deal IMHO, if not there are two potential replacements already at the club. Nothing sinister in what I'm saying, just pretty obvious.

| Powell can probably see the writing on the wall at Cas.
Trinity are at last making real progress with the stadium and that goes hand in glove with a capacity to improve income streams, so becoming more competitive. Meanwhile Cas's future is bound into a shopping mall proven to be a dinosaur following the effects of covid and online shopping on retail parks and high streets.

Good point that never even crossed my mind but yes, who in their right mind would build a retail development now, even an out of town one.

Whatever happens, Powell wont be short of offers.
He did a fantastic job at Fev and then turned Cas from a basket case to title contenders, albeit that they have slipped a little in the last couple of seasons.
The Warrington post looks like a decent shout and realistically, why would any decent coach, offer his notice without another gig lined up. There is no need for him to take that risk.

| He’s done a great job at Cas but let’s drop the stuff about limited funds. He’s had plenty and done well with it. Shame his £170k star signing ended up costing them the grand final in 2017.
When I say it’s a ‘shame’...

Who said anything about limited funds?

Said quite frequently today as though he’s been operating on an absolute shoestring budget.

But if they call the new Cas retail park Headingley, the people of Leeds will flood there, believing they are at home, even though they are away.

I don’t think Powell had much to do with us not being able to beat them in recent years. Plenty of teams have beaten Cas in that time.
For me Cas produced a team for whom beating us meant a great deal. Why that happens I don’t know but we were doing it to them for the previous ten years. Don’t think it’s a local lads thing as when we were truly dominant over Cas we barely had any local lads.
It’s just a hoodoo as Toppo used to say. Leeds had it on Ilya for ages at BV now they don’t, it will play itself out when we least expect it, Powell or no Powell

Ah, the memories. No one can take those away from you. I tend to think it better through if the memory works well enough to mean that what is remembered aligns with actual events!

Nothing wrong with my memory, pretty much one way traffic in the 2000’s, when you were actually in SL.
