| Come on Mr Carter, the defence of our team is dreadful. At this rate we will be dragged into a relegation battle, we need someone to come in and organise our defence because our coaching staff are just not up to it. I wonder if Shaun Wane is available??. Our best forward was Pauli Pauli, who is rumoured to be going to Salford, its a pity our coaches arn't going instead. I feel sorry for all the fans that travelled to France it's not cheap to watch such a pitiful performance. ( I bet Castleford can't wait for friday night), so come on Michael sort it out.

| Pauli Pauli cost us 3 tries with grasping at thin air in defence. No way imo was he our best forward, I would happily see him go to Salford now

| What do you mean “we will be dragged into a relegation battle”? We’ve been in one ever since the CC against Widnes, the warning signs were there in that performance.

| Something is clearly not going right and it needs sorting.
Mr Carter will not sack Chester so I think he should do a couple of things himself.
One thing he could try is ask Saints if he could spend some time over there and get to know all their backroom staff and methods. I am sure it would be a right eye opener for him and may help him identify what needs altering behind the scenes at our club.
He could also get someone in who is very experienced to look at our back room set up with a fresh pair of eyes and t identify the weak areas.
People say the buck stops with the coach , but coaching is a team effort and I am sure a stronger more experienced team to help out Chester would improve things.

| In a disjointed season, some of the players seem to have lost the balls to man up and put a shift in. It’s all well and good laughing and giggling off the field when the performances are good; but when you’re in a hole and need to get out of the grim mire we are in, attitudes need to alter. Nigel Bell, Johnny Thompson, Ray Price never bellyached about injuries. Man the f... up and earn your pay !!!

| I'm not part of the Chester out brigade just yet and am backing him to turn things around. That said I do hope MC/the board are pushing him though and not allowing a free ride - questions need to be asked about us not being able to do the basics right and the attitude in some of the games this year (Catalan, London x2, Salford away etc).
I get injuries have played a part, but it doesn't excuse some of the drivel we have been served this year.

| I think one of the problems this year has been the tightness of the league, so for a long time there wasn't an issue as we were always within touching distance of the top 5, with many players due back from injury. The same at the bottom, as within a couple of weeks we have gone from one win off the play-offs to two losses off the bottom.
Saturday cost us the play-offs in reality. Although we have the same gap between the play-off spot and the bottom, we are playing like a side in a relegation battle. Two wins will do us, I think, because that would require London and Rovers to each win five of their last eight games, which is unlikely. BUT, we could do without having to win the final game.
I don't think it's a Chester thing. I think it's a player thing, and they lost some of their fight, perhaps because we were always so near the top. Perhaps Saturday was just a focus thing, because it was clear from their instagram stories that they spend two days doing the full tourist sightseeing. What is apparent that none of the players have posted an instagram story since Saturday, so hopefully there's a renewed focus.

Your last paragraph demonstrates exactly why it’s a Chester thing. Lost their fight? It’s down to the coach. No focus? It’s down to the coach. I’ve said before that I like Chester and think he’s done a brilliant job for us but we’re in a hole at the moment and it’s up to the coach to get us out of it. If players have lost their fight or aren’t focused he needs to deal with that.

| 6/5 (with 365) is way too short of a price to take for Wakefield, 8/11 even worse for Cas. I’ll have my weekly accumulator and that’ll be that.

Can we not persuade Kear to come back in and assist Chessie, the same as Leeds have done with the Featherstone coach ???

I regularly back against Wakefield and never back them. Completely opposite to your take, I see it as a way of winning either way. My biggest loss was backing Bradford (and covering the draw) in the million pound game.
My oldest bet was backing Saints to beat us in the 1979 CC Semi. I ripped the slip up with great glee on the Headingley Eastern Terrace, as it was then.
I always prefer to lose the money. I am fortunate to be able to afford this and (in response to another poster) I would never divulge the stake nor post a copy of my bet. Lets just say the financial loss has to hurt or the winnings give some consolation to make the exercise worthwhile.

| This has turned in to an incredibly difficult season but not sure on the logic of changing coach now with so few games left and no prospect of the new coach being able to being players in. Still think we need 3 wins to be sure of staying up. Just need to get to the end of the year and look to next season.
Said on here a few times Chester should be judged on our progress after 100 games in charge which he crossed this season I believe. Currently he has failed to maintain the course of improvement since 2016 but there is some serious mitigation as to why the season has collapsed, however we should be putting in better performances than last week and a bad one at home to Cas on Friday could really pour some petrol on the fire. Seriously though - who is going to come in and a) improve things within the budget b) be a realistic long term appointment? People jumping up and down calling for JD to be brought in are assuming his sentiment for the club matches theirs.

This is spot on for me. When you consider where we were when he took over Chester still has some credit in the bank and deserves the opportunity to turn it around. And he has had some adversity to deal with this year with the injuries, although it isn’t an excuse for everything we have seen, we chose to go with a big squad to be able to deal with situations that we got and didn’t manage it well. But now we have players back i expect improvement to come. That said it can’t be allowed to drift forever and we need to see a positive reaction on Friday.

I think that's fair enough, sometimes the grass isn't always greener is it......we have to be realistic about who would replace him........but like you say, another poor effort on Friday and they are all gonna cop some serious flak and they will probably have no real defence! After all when you consider Salford have only won 1 out of the last 6 or 7, and that was us, same really with Catalans, now Cas are hardly on a hot streak are they.

Yep I get what you're saying, pride's a dirty word nowadays! But if you're waiting for Chester to be sacked, I think you will be waiting quite a while, but who knows what lies in store eh......

| Hi Wollo,re your last post
I am now beginning to understand why people would bet against their own team.If Trin loose, the winnings can soften the blow. I can also see that if they opt for the points for or against system, that can finish as a win-win situation.I still won't back against Trinity though,it would be a case of me hoping that I loose money.Nope!
Your mention of the 1979 semi brought back my best memories of my time watching the club. Was there at Headingley seeing Burky,Toppo,Fletch, and I think Keith Smith do their stuff in a very tense but successful match.

Chester won’t get sacked whilever Mike Carter has influence, they’re too close which is never a good thing if you’re in a professional set up. More likely to be moved upstairs whether it’s warranted or not.
