I was going to post this on the Cas thread but it’s locked but I think it’s worth saying.

Cas have been caught in a classic catch 22 here. They have built their pack around aggression which is fine but with that comes aggressive personalities. Eventually something or someone is going to blow.

On the field over the last few years the main factor in them winning against us has been their more aggressive pack. However there seems to be no balance with only Gale capable of a smile. Far too many young players without family commitments thus far to much testosterone or at least that’s how it appears to me.

We at least have players who play with a smile. Real personalities like Kirmond and Fifita. Both can be a bit daft but I can’t imagine either takes it too far.

Sometimes I think maybe we are too nice but I don’t think we are I just think a lot of our players are more grounded. Whether that’s better I don’t teally know but what I’m convinced about is that players like Lyne, BJB, Crowther and even TJ wouldn’t have had the time and space to develop at Cas that we’ve given them.

It just shows how hard it is to build a team and it has shown at Cas a lot. Brilliant at the bread and butter stuff but in the big games the always look like 17 strangers to me. That imo is down to gear the fear of being the one who blew it and knowing that there would be little sympathy.

Of course we are yet to be tried and we too could fail in a spectacular way but it wouldn’t be for the same reasons.

Brough has been brought in I suspect to add a little edge but it’s hardly overkill and even he’s older, wiser and more mellow than he used to be or at least I hope so.

I don’t think Cas will implode but I’m hoping the bubble has if not burst then it’s at least deflated a bit.

Jeeze, never heard so much rubbish in my life Vastman, so the reason they had a falling out in a warm weather training camp is because they have an aggressive pack? and apparently no family commitments (Which is strange, because that is just not true is it ? )Nothing to do with that is it? Lets be honest, is this you just trying to make yourself feel better about your pack because it gets beaten up by Cas`s every single time you play them? There pack is no more aggressive than any other, they are just better. Moors, Watts, JSL etc all walk into most SL teams.

Only Gale capable of a smile? You very rarely see JSL without a smile on his face or laughing.. Do you ever get it right?

Bloody hell he's popped up here with his chip on his shoulder about our pack. This is the Hudds fan that thinks their pack completely bullied ours in every game including the 2 big losses they suffered and the one where we lost 22-25. It's all down to our flanks apparently, nothing to do with the forwards and he talks about never hearing so much rubbish.



As for your post Vasty, you may have over analysed that mate.

No chip on my shoulder bud, just don`t believe your pack is anywhere near as good as most of your fans make out.

You would be better off waxing lyrical about your back line instead, they are actually up there I reckon although not quite as good as ours, imo we have the best backline in the league.

I find the idea of problems in the Cas camp appealing so with Vastman all the way here

Where as I just like to concentrate on what our club is doing well rather than problems at other clubs. Could not really give a stuff about Cas or any other club for that matter.

Vasty its not often you are right and you are wrong again. Castlfords pack have some real dog in them, on paper you look at them and think that a lot of sides should have the strength to get over the top of them and yet for the last 2 years their pack has done the business ( except amusingly in the finals ). They have bullied us up front for the last five seasons, they have some nastiness about them I like the idea of players scrapping with each other, its a tough tough game, and despite all the stuff about skill, fitness, training etc you can not get away from the fact that a violent, rough, near psychopath is an excellent starting point when thinking about requirements for an RL forward. I suppose you would have been complaining when Derek Turner was knocking the whatits out of his own team mates in training and reportedly at half time in some matches when he felt a colleague had taken a backward step.

That said Cas do have a tough pack, I'm not sure where I said they didn't - might be worth reading the posts properly in future Belly - I said they didn't have balance in that far too many of them are too pumped up IMHO, which isn't the same thing at all is it.
