Really looking forward to seeing him start the season as well. The lad just can't catch a break since he signed with us.

It is bad news, but let's be positive...
...he'll miss about 8 games...
...it will be like having a new, fresh player when he returns...
...our tougher games come towards the end of the first round of 13 games, so not as big a loss...
...if we can ride the first 8 games, we will be in a great position to further improve...
...he'll be back for Easter(???)...
...better to lose a key player now, rather than at the "business end"...
...the league isn't won in January...
...and anyway, according to BOJ he's a e, injury-prone, journeyman has-been anyway

In a perverse sort of way he's no loss. He hasn't played enough for Trinity to get any sort of benefit from him so when he does come back it will be like a mid season signing.

If a player is going to be injured, and players get injured, it's better now. Better to have the mended bodies on the park at the middle or business end rather than struggling on through painkillers.

When one door closes! One 0ption would be move Finny to hooker along with wood and give Ryan Hampshire a early shot at halfback, This while spelling with Wood could give Finn a bit of rest and time to get his fitness upto scratch.

I wouldn't do that I'd have Finn as a HB and Wood both on for the full 80 and have Hampshire and Miller interchanging.

Finn doesn't use much energy other than his brain and that's a 80 minute brain. Wood if he paces himself is an 80 minute man.

That leaves these two dynamos 20 mins per half to run the opposition ragged.

What I don't see is Miller and Bampshire as a partnership for me they are to alike. Not that it isn't worth a go at some point as I may be wrong but I just don't see it myself.

What am sure about is that Finn is now far to slow for hooker and that wouldn't work.

You don't have to take Finn off, when wood needs time out put hampsh to halfback and Finn to hooker ! Finn can play 80 mins as for being to slow they don't all have to have a quick scoot, Wouldn't take Miller off him and Hampsh have both got pace to burn and would cause problems .

That's a real shame for Tyler he looked like the real deal for us last season, as he arrived wood got injured too so we were really lucky he came when he did, hope for a full recovery then look forward to seeing him back

Going off last season I think wood Miller and Finn will all do 80 mins and it will be arona that interchanges with arona
I thought the change from ball handling LF to pace and play the ball speed at LF that anikin brought was a real game breaker for us

Sammy to scrum half and Finn to hooker as well as Hadley to hooker both to spell wood worked but rewatching the games in the off season, we looked spelling our Loose forwards

It would have been great to see Randell up and running. For sure CCs got options and its probably better to happen early than later on. I think Randells got so much to offer the club.

With McIlorum moving to Catalans it reminded me of Scott Moore (similar style on pitch). What ever happened to Scott?

I have Supported Trinity for 44 years i have also played i talk to many people supporters and past players and i have my opinion just like you if you think Finn is good enough fair play I and many others i talk to do not he is too old too slow and i doubt he would get into any other SL side other than Widnes
We have a good pack real pace and quality in the threequarters but for me scrum half is the weak link and that is with all due respect to the man

I think at this moment in time we are a better team with Finn on the pitch, and we were last season when we had an NRL half in Sam Williams in the squad.

Maybe he`s not fashionable as he does not catch the eye, but i dont think there are many halfs in SL that can control a game like Finn can, his organisation and game management skills are second to none and every succesful team needs that.

I think this will be his final season anyway, who will take over that role.. who knows.

Slow - yes, but he salvaged our season last year once we realised that Williams wasnt the solution. He needs replacing, even he will accept that I guess in what will probably be his last season. However, that is the difficult part!

About to say similar. We brought Williams over from the NRL and gave him the chance to show what he could do, but apart from the odd game he never really was consistent or showed his NRL form. When it came to the business end, especially when Miller came back from the broken leg we had him & Finn playing together. Says something about Finn when Williams has walked straight back into a new contract with Canberra.

As for talking to old players, if you listened to Gary Schofield, like him or not he certainly knows how to play halfback and also isn't afraid to call it as he sees it & he raved about Finn's game just about all last year.

Nothing to do with me being right, it just is right - that's why CC keeps picking him!

So if Chris Chester doesn't think that position needed improving last season ! Why did he sign Sam Williams?

Finn has done just fine for us the last two years. Much better than I hoped when he was signed.

Shame it didn't work out for Sam Williams and he put some good shifts in, just never 'clicked' for him.

Really excited to see what young Hampshire can can bring to the table. Had that Leeds left side on the back foot 2nd half on Boxing Day

Maybe he thought that Williams would improve what we had but, change his mind as the season went on.
Or, maybe he has someone else in his sights ?

Same reason he signed Hampshire - its's called back up - not meaning to sound sarcastic but it's not a new phenomenon.

Also why do you assume Williams was signed as first choice over Finn or Miller, as far as I was concerned he was competition.

Personally I think Hampshire will force his way into the HB's however I don't necessarily believe it will be at Finns expense. Just my opinion.
