| Feel like taking my tickets back with these two being announced as the match officials, we won't get a single decision, might as well not bother going and just give cas the 2 points.

| Maybe an unpopular view, but I think James Child has grown into one of the best referees. He's not always going to get it right, not everyone does, but now he's lost his pedantic whistle-happy habits, I'm fine with him.
Wasn't it the Child and Bentham combo that got us the away win at Saints with the penalty try?

| As a neutral I don't mind Child too much but with Wakey he really has a downer. Bentham's OK. Worst refs though are Hicks or that Huddersfield git.

| Don't mind Child, discipline is important around him and he won't let stuff go that others do. Heard some pretty vile stuff shouted at him over the years and he's still here, given how may refs have walked away it is to his credit that he is still here.

| Child hasn't had a bad game since that Millennium Magic against Cas in 2011 where he gave about 50 penalties. Like wakefieldwall says fair play for him sticking with the sport despite coppping constant abuse.

| Generally the refs don't give penalties, they just tell you when you've given one.
We need to be disciplined.
People often look at the penalty count when they've lost but it's usually a case of giving penalties away when you are being beaten.

| We do need to be disciplined...
But the referee also has to enforce the rules, not interpretations, equally to both sides which I'm afraid these two jokers don't do. I actually once saw Bentham ignore a touch judge raised flag at Catalans a few years back. Simply put we aren't getting a fair crack of the whip tonight, it's castlefords party and the officials have been chosen accordingly.

| Don't mind Child as much these days. Thought he was alright at home against Saints and not as whistle happy as he used to be other than the bizaare obstruction call on MCB.
Worst referee around has to be Jack Smith, can't remember ever watching a game he's reffed, including non Wakefield games, where I haven't come away thinking he was dreadful.

I think Child blotted his copy book for us in the Millenium game against Cas all those years ago
His 42 penalties is still a record and completely ruined the game.

| Not criticising the ref as such , more the rule interpretation. Last week against Leeds, McGuire caught the ball with his foot over the deadball line and we got the dropout, tonight the Cas player did`nt even catch the ball with his foot over the line and they got a penalty on the halfway line. What was the difference in the 2 plays and which one was the right call ?

This is a fine point. I mentioned this. I thought it was now outlawed that you could stick a foot dead in goal and touch the ball and it classed as a dead ball? So I was baffled when they got a 7 tackle set from Jowitt's kick off and we didn't get a drop out? What is the rule?

| But surely you have to catch the ball to make it dead.... not bat at it with your arm...
Also can anyone tell me how cas got the tap 20 from our high kick to the corner... at the match it looked like we knocked the ball back or Eden knocked it forward, Lynne picked it up, stretched to try and score short/double movement. No way was it a try but surely it was either a handover, our scrum or a cas penalty?

Embarrassed for you...
Did James Child swap MCB and Tupou around? Did Bentham tell our players to give away silly penalties late in the tackle count? Did any official instruct Huby to drop the ball, or Jowitt to kick out on the full or BJB to go for an intercept when a tackle would have been better, or Finn to have an off night with the boot?!
If anything, I thought Child was lenient in the ruck for both teams - and he let a couple of flare-ups play themselves out without resorting to penalties; all in all, a good performance from all the officials, and a result that was decided by the two teams involved, one of whom was significantly better than the other.

| Thought the ref had a decent game, I thought he missed a couple of Cas knock ons but i also thought he misses a couple of things that we got away with.
Cas were just better than us last night as they have been most of the season, I thought we gave it a good go.

| Best refereeing performance from Child I have seen.
He's been notoriously bad for us in the past but he was pretty much spot on with everything last night.
Beaten fairly and squarely by the better side.

Did he penalise Castleford for the blatant swinging arm, did he even consider a sin bin for a shoulder charge off the ball, did he notice that on every 5th tackle play cas stood a prop in front of Gayle who would move to obstruct anyone trying to pressure the kick. Don't be embarrassed for me, I was there last night, Cas best team all year, deserved their win and the trophy, but the referee had an undue influence on the game which led to the high score line.
