| Think we needed a stronger referee for this.
Poor refereeing doesn't help the crowd situation.
Out of curiosity, when was the last time Thaler refereed one of our games. Can't recall him doing any of our games this year so far, and were 9 games in, we've had Bentham, Hewer and Child at least twice

Looks like Thaler is dropping down a division this week and refereeing Bradford v Sheffield
His performance last week in France didn't go down too well...

| So what level does the likes of Hicks, Bentham and Child ought to be dropped down to.
Didnt see all of the game on Monday in France as I was travelling back from Headingley, though what i did see was Thaler telling Alibert what the decision should have been and then shaking his head.
The RFL need to sort out the farce that our officials are once and for all

| Cobb will only referee it as he sees it, it's up to the players not to give him any excuse, tbh they'll probably get most of the 50/50 decisions unfortunately.

| Thaler should have kept his disapproval to himself but Alibert was so wrong that it must have been almost impossible for him not to shake his head and question the decision.
Cummins in the studio was also a disgrace, he was criticising Thaler saying if he wanted to make the decision he shouldn't have sent it upstairs.
Thaler didn't see the incident clearly enough to be sure but no doubt he saw it on the big screen like everyone else including Alibert. Once he'd seen it on the replay it was obvious to anyone with a knowledge of the game what the correct decision ought to be, everyone that is except Alibert. Cummins bigging himself up at the expense of Thaler when he ought to have been backing him and explaining Ho Alibert had got it wrong.

I agree entirely that Alibert got it wrong but having handed it on upstairs Thaler should have been keeping quiet. What he did didn't do any favours for himself, Alibert or the players in my opinion.
All Thaler succeeded in doing was causing controversy amongst the players as they could clearly hear him disagreeing with Alibert's decision which then gives the players the ammo to get involved and question the decision.
The decision, right or wrong was Alibert's to make once handed on and the players would have just had to accept it if Thaler had kept his mouth shut.

| Did Alibert get a sanction? Wasn't this the guy who couldn't count to 6 at one of our games? Maybe Thaler should have kept quiet but he's clearly the best referee IMHO

Which is what I've said in the above post, however, the players don't have the right to quip at the referee and they too should keep their opinions to themselves and get on with the game, Cpt excepted.

| Cas put a bomb up on the 5th tackle and Joel Monaghan went up for it, but it came out of his hands and then hit McMeekan (I think) on the head, who was in front of Monaghan, but Monaghan then re-gathered it and touched down.
As stated above, it all happened that fast that Thaler had no option but to pass it upstairs to Halibut, but as soon as the replay was shown, it was quite clear to all that it wasn't a try..........all except Halibut

Why should he of kept his mouth shut he sent it upstairs thinking there was a competent ref watching the screen an when they send it up they send it to confirm there thought not totally change the rules

Because sending it upstairs takes the decision out of his hands. The video ref is supposed to make a decision independent of what the on-field ref says and so Thaler shouldn't be trying to influence his decision.
The fact that Alibert is incompetent is another matter entirely and that is what the RFL should be dealing with.
Personally I feel that Thaler should have had a reminder from the RFL that he should just let the VR get on with it without any outside interference but that shouldn't have been a public flogging like he has effectively had by being demoted this weekend, and that Alibert should have been the one that suffered any kind of punishment.

| Not many decisions would have made much last year the state we are in. It's on sky as back so it can't be totally biased to Salford. He can't be as bad as Bentham. No good abusing Cobb in his warm up either I always find that so stupid. It's like abusing a chef before he cooks for you ~~

Just like you with Nick Scruton then and every other player you for some reason 'get the knife into'!

I'm sure it might have something to do with the previous performances he's put in. Not a bad way to twist the analogy in order to have a go at someone though.

Not really. Referees can have bad performances too, but they should be exempt?

In your humble opinion of course.
If you read it properly you'll find it was somebody else that made the analogy, does it run in the family making yourself look stupid so naturally?
