Currently got a contract up these parts, been here over a week and dissappointed in the drinking establishments and take outs. Any recommendations? Currenlty located at holiday inn, I've tried Silkwood Farm, food has an funny taste. Tried take aways of top of ones head, dream steakhouse and st pauls chippy??

Here for a month so help would appreciated.

What type of pub are you looking for ?

Real ale pub or night club etc

Not really interested in night out but would be good to have somethings to look at if you catch my drift. Not really into "real ale" but a pub with a decent vault where can mingle and have a laugh, don't mind the "rough pubs" Oh and somewhere that isn't 3.80 a pint!

Was disappointed with Silkwood Farm carvery, may try again but order off the menu, the carvey had a distinct taste? This a common problem?

Am I going the wrong way heading down into Wakefield, If i went over round about Osset is there, is that any good?

If you want a curry the red chilli 2 takes some beating.
Pub wise for proper beer try fernandes, the hop, the print works, Harry's bar, also have a ride into horbury and ossett sone good beer pubs there too.
Failing all that there's the six chimneys (wetherspoons) in town if you want cheap beer and food.

Just go into Wakefield City centre

Ossett has got some great places to drink. Horse and Jockey is a bit rough round the edges but good good craic and nice pint of Sam Smiths.

The Tap is a good real ale pub, good atmosphere as well.

The Vic is also a great place for a drink but a bit out of the town.

The Mews is the place to go if you want a nice (but slightly expensive) bite to eat.

Best take aways round here are Star of India for Indian, Cheungs for Chinese and probably Fresh, Grilled, Fried if you want a burger/Kebab etc.

Oooh might have me sold with the Sam Smiths, have to be careful though, that lager of theirs can be quite potent! So thats in Osset?

Also I presume with it being a Sam Smiths, no Sky Sports? Pubs should be alright for Thursday night rugby round these parts.

Beer huis also worth a visit.
