We have conceded a lot of points to high kicks this season. Against KR we seemed scared to catch the ball. Albert kelly ran 50 yards for one kick and got there first although he dropped it. Other teams try to protect the team mate catching the ball by legally getting in the way of on rushing opponents. We could have easily done this in the Kelly incident instead of just standing around watching. Just a little coaching point our illustrious coach seems to be unaware of.

Apparently we are immense at defending cross field kicks in training and the goal line defence is absolutely outstanding.

Of course with an attack as toothless as Trinity's I guess that comes as no surprise.

Down to individual's confidence for me. Miller took every one they threw at him. Riley and Johnstone didn't.

To be fair Miller has done fine under the high ball…..he took some great ones at St. Helens too..

As regards Tom,he is young and still learning and there's more matured and highly paid internationals still drop high balls

For me, I prefer some-one to at least go for the ball and drop it rather than letting it bounce umpteen times !!

I know he got out jumped for one, he got caught in no mans land for a couple of try's but that was because he was trying to fix other people's mistakes.

i know the above are mainly talking about high kicks, but our kick return has also been very poor this season.
Hall was particular bad at getting back to a kick, picking it up and then running with it. probably cost us at least 10m each time. This has not been that evident in the last few games as most of the time the opposition didn't get to kicks.....

our kick return with fox, cockayne and mathers was one of the best in the league.

Johnstone and Crowther are two of the few positives so far this season.

Our defending kicks looks much worse than anyone else's because it is all one way traffic. Other teams chase a kick and compete for it when it comes down, we do not. Why? I have no idea, it's on the last tackle there is nothing to lose and everything to gain from putting the catcher under pressure as teams demonstrate to us every week!

No Avenger,he didn't drop any,like you say he got out jumped by a winger who is stronger and you could see the disappointment on Tom face after and yes he got drawn in side due to lazy defence in the middle.I will always defend Tom,Max and Jordan ,having seen them play many a time and the potential they have shown during their scholarship games together and I am sure all 3 will be a massive asset to Wakey in the future.
