This might be a good idea - but not claiming to be one of the forums experts I'm not sure. Might even be in operation already?

Myself, like I suspect many others on here due to modern working practices finds it very hard to attend anything like all home matches anymore. Hence the advantages of a season ticket are lost on me and I don't buy one. I just don't get to enough matches to benefit, nor can I be sure until the day which matches I can attend.

Yet I'm a loyal fan who in general manages 6-8 matches a year and currently when I do attend I get stung for the full £20 which is both harsh on my wallet and expensive enough to put me off attending all but the choicest games.It's quite hard to justify that expenditure to my non RL supporting wife.

Now this is not the clubs fault I accept that - however I'm sure they wish all fans to be a part of any discounting schemes especially those which produce cash up front and more or less guarantee attendance.

So what about a club discount ticket.

Covering any 6 games for example in a season it would cost £30 up front and give you a £10 admission on the day. This is not a short season ticket as it is not tied to any specific games.

Basically the ticket buyer stumps up £5 (£30 for 6 games) in advance and £10 on the day and the club discounts £5 on the day.

The club - the club get £30 up front even if not all the discounts are used. They incentivise attendances amongst those who can't do a full season and they have a very reasonably priced Christmas gift to sell pre season. I don't know how hard or expensive this would be to administer to be honest?

The fan -I suspect many fans would get these discount tickets as gifts (very affordable as gift from a kid to their dad or an uncle et cetc) or would happily part with £30 in the closed season. They then know that they can attend 6 games which would almost certainly be the less popular games at a manageable tenner a go and perhaps feeling flush bring a younger or new spectator with them. The big games, Leeds or Cas will always be worth full admission price in my book and I wouldn't need a discount to attend those!

It seems to work for me but as I've learned to my cost on this forum that people rarely react as you hoped - so give it your best shot.

games thats £180 in my book ! Thats cheaper than a season ticket.

Good point, figures are not cast in stone. Looking for a similar discount to a season ticket so perhaps a little optimistic from me there. However having just checked season ticket prices there doesn't appear to be much of a discount!

Also agreed there would need to be a restriction of one per person per season (should have added that).

Still think it has legs but the margins may be much tighter - I suppose it could still work as a gift or incentivisor but the discount element may be a non starter.

When MC was considering his pricing for this year I posted the concept of a 10 game season ticket at £180 which gives a discount on game day prices but still prices as dearer than a full season ticket which should always be the cheapest.

I work shifts and missed 5 games last year as a result. I have therefore not purchased a season ticket for this year but will be there when I can and will pay my money on the gate.

I don't know how the new card works, but perhaps you could 'load' up 7 games for say £140. These could be any 7 games you could get to that season and each visit knocks a game off the total. I don't know how much match day entry is these days but maybe something like this could capture the people who are regulars but isn't worth them getting a 14 games season ticket (pass?) for £220-£240 due to other commitments.

Assuming the numbers are worked out I think it's a decent idea.

A mini season ticket is a good idea but, there would need to be some "control" to prevent people having a discounted ticket and just turning up for the big games.

Going slightly o/t what are we charging on the gate next season ?

Would maybe work if games were in categories and you had opportunity for 2 from each class A,B,C,
lets say class A were Leeds, Cas, Wigan, Hull
Class B were Warrington, Saints, Hudds, Hull Kr
Class C were Salford, Widnes, Catalan
No disrespect to any team just trying to spread across crowd sizes more than anything else.
and if you couldn't Make a class A game you could use the ticket in a lower class but not vice versa. so you would get 6 games spread over the season and not cherry pick all the better games.

I'd be up for this scheme Vastman as like you I can't get to all the games. Thursday, Friday and most Saturdays no chance for me so I've reluctantly stopped getting a season ticket the last couple of years. You just end up not benefitting in the long run so I just purchase my ticket from the Club shop or pay on the gate.

Everybody has their reasons' for either getting one or not getting one, what matters most is you turn up every home game or when ever possible to support the club.

Some of the suggestions would work for me as I live 40 miles away and work some weekends so season ticket no good as can't make more than 6-8 home games per season.

I was thinking something along these lines myself. Living in Beverley wit job/ family responsibilities. I got to 8 matches at home last season paid on the gate. Now if the club would like a mix of money up front and some revenue stream thereafter I think your idea has legs whatever some may say

EXACTLY what I was thinking. A card you load as you want. I feel sure of 8 matches so I load 8. If I want more as the season goes by I load more..the club incentivises loading more with offers and hopefully results on the pitch! The old ways need a pep up

A discounted ticket for the less attractive games could work, but not across the board for the simple reason that the club doesn't gain much from it. If you are going to go to six games a year anyway, the club gets £120. Under the suggestion, the club gets £90; i.e., it loses a game and a half at full price out of the deal.

The reality is that if someone is going to go to the trouble of buying an advance pass for £30, they will probably go to six games of their own volition. Also, it wouldn't do much to encourage more attendances, as once you've done three games, you've broken even. Thereafter, the only loser is the club.

As has been said, however, a limited pass might work for less attractive fixtures, but how would that fit in with a full season pass? You'd have to reduce the full season ticket price further to factor it in (i.e., make it worthwhile buying one).

Perhaps a pricing structure similar to the one laid out below may be suitable. It shows the worth of purchasing a full season ticket whilst offering reasonable discounts on a sliding scale for those who cannot make it to all the matches.

1 game £25

5 games £110 (£15 saving)

7 games £150 (£25 saving)

10 games £200 (£50 saving)

14 games £250 (£100 saving)

I can see the logic behind that but every game has to be of the same value where as the London and Catalan home game struggled to bring in a higher attendance as Cas and Leeds
