| I know this subject has been done to death.
He tweeted 2 days ago saying he was heading over to the UK to play for the same team as Godinet - just waiting on his passport now. (I'm guessing this will be a European passport due to his polish decent)
It doesn't exactly fill me with confidence that he's been out for a long time just recovered from a big knee op and now is out for 6 weeks with a re- accruing hamstring injury. at such a young age his injury record in absolutely terrible.

| Is he going to play though?with the signing of Sammut I can only see him playing if we get injuries and personally I am not sure it is worth the time effort and cost of jetting someone half way around the world to sit in the stands.

| Got to agree with altofs. Bringing an Aussie over as a squad player isn't great for the British game, but without licensing is an inevitability.

| I'd have thought that was sammut doing that. Godinet was brought over to be a half back. I'd imagine he'd be mightily ed off if we shifted him to hooker, and ed off players are not what we need in a relegation season. I'd suggest we went for Siejka, then the opportunity for sammut arrived and was too good to pass up. At least it's depth.

| Pointless signing. Nigel Wood's proposal is already setting back the development of home grown kids in this country. Will the total cost of Seijka's salary surpass Kay's demands. I suspect so.

| Just have to hope that the extra cash in the game is used to develop British players. We were just starting to see the benefits to the game as a whole.

The clubs at the top will continue to develop juniors. The clubs at the bottom will, as before, look overseas instead. The only difference now is the quality will be lower.

| I know I am going to regret this... But:
I am sick of you all creaming over Wildie and lamenting the loss of Bobby Goulding who on heir best days are nowhere near the quality of Harry Seijka...
Great player to have in the squad...

I get what you are saying, personally I never rated Goulding and I think Wildie is a decent hooker but not good enough in the halfs.
What I was saying is that in our current situation is it worth it for us to be flying someone half way round the world at considerable expense who on the face of it wont be starting. If we pick up injuries then it may work out but I dont think we should be doing it in case of injury.
If I am honest I hope I am wrong, I hope he comes over plays plenty of games and does well for us.

I Agree Siejka is a class player , he made his NRL debut at 16 what does that tell you?
It will be Sjejka and Godinet at 6 and 7, skyes in the centres and samnut at fullback

| No ones mentioned them on this thread have they?? Certainly all I have said is that I can't see how he will play unless there is an injury or we godinet off by moving him to hooker. I've also stated I think it's been a mistake getting rid of licensing and hope the RFL invest heavily in developing British kids. Don't turn this into another goulding/wildie debate

| Never creamed over wildie blighty old boy just thought he's been badly used at the club given a chance here an there usually in games against strong opposition to save our senior players for easier games .Goulding if you check my posts when he signed I said it wads a mistake having seen him several times with warring tons academy.now harry I haven't seen I'll take your word for it but he'll have to be quality to justify a signing in my opinion

We are under the high ball as it is. Why compound it? Defence is 50% of the game. I'm really surprised people don't appreciate it as much as they should. We need to be solid under the ball to allow us to attack.

That he was kid that showed great talent and did not live up to his potential?
I am not slating the signing don't know anything about him other than what most others know, could be great could be poor who knows? All we can hope is that the club have planned for his arrival and how he will be integrated into the team. I doubt that he will be here to sit in the stands so the most likely scenario for me is, Godinet to provide impact hooker option with Sammut at 7 and Siejka at 6.
While I think Mathers is a poor player he does seem to be a leader and you need leaders in a dogfight so I doubt he will be dropped.

But we did the same during licencing too. Bug bear of mine this, and has been for ages. We want it always, when its franchising and we are in danger of getting the boot it's not fair because of all the players we produce and because of the fantastic junior set up we have in and around our area. Now there is no licensing we are 'forced' to include too many of these in the squad as survival is our sole aim.
Something that needs to be improved on.

| Clearly on this issue some clubs need to be baby sat, the RFL increasing the non-fed numbers to 7 will see clubs fill up on imports. They should’ve kept it at 5 and increased club trained players to 10 per club in a 25 man squad. Naturally London would be screwed with the number of players they released but this would be the way to stop clubs like Trinity stocking up on imports regardless of the jeopardy that awaits them at the end of the season.

I agree - partly.
I think the number of imports should be scaled down to 2 over the first 3 years of P&R, whilst the number of club trained players should be scaled up over the same time period.
Equally, squad size should be capped and the number of games a player can participate in per year should be limited; the U19's should also be reinstated and fielding one in the comp should be a requirement of participation in SL, regardless of moans about cost.
Clubs have proved they won't behave for the good of the game - so force them.

More and more half backs are converting to FB so they can take advantage in broken play ?

| From what I've seen, read and heard about Sammut over the last few years is that he can be a great game changer/impact player on his day.
Therefore I wonder whether long term (dependant on form) Siejka will take 6 and Godinet at 7 with Sammut on the bench to come off bench and go to either 1/6/7 for impact?
It's a long season and quality pivots are few and far between so if he comes hope he's fit and adds something extra then great. If we get injuries/suspension we'll be thankful for that depth as Wildie is really a hooker.
