Just like Mariano coming into form as he signs for .....as i understand Cas...haven't been his greatest fan but has improved towards end of this season and given our level and money i would have kept him. Heard they are signing Lynch too and Chase as expected is off to Salford. Powell was also very interested in Danny Kirmond.

Lee Smith has rejected Cas, after his agent's stunt. Bradford are interested, but I understand he ideally would like to stay at Wakefield.

Got to remember that Lee Smiths agent is Shuttlegough. If you believe the rumours from Sir Richard Agar and others then the tale is that Shuttlegough was touting Kirmond around and had other clubs interested but Kirmond was not interested in a move and signed for us. Then the Wakefield born, Trinity supporting Shuttlegough attempts to get Cas interested in Lee Smith, again Smith did not want a move. Remember this is the same Wakefield born Trinity loving agent who tried to get all our best junior players to move to Huddersfield. I just hope that the club make Shuttlegough pay to watch his beloved Trinity play. Never in the history of Trinity has one man done work against the best interest of the club he ` supports `.

To be fair he's looking after his clients interests in gainig them as much as possible for their services, however, if they have stated they're not intetested he should respect their wishes. All the more reason to have a central pool of agents paid for by the RFL/players union who players can go to when they want to move. No Mr 10%, no unsettling of players and no destabilisation of clubs. Everyones a winner.

Surely he's not looking after their interests if he's touting them to clubs they don't want to go to? I would have thought it would be basic courtesy to discuss it with your client beforehand.

I agree with your broader point though - I'm not sure what value they add, apart from to their own bank accounts.

Further to that I would have thought it would damage his credibility with the clubs he has approached if he has not been able to deliver what he was offering.

I was thinking more along the lines that club b is offering said player more to go there then club a is offering him to stay. Making that known to the player is looking after their interests in a way, although its more their own pocket they're interested it.

Baffles me why players use agents.
Are they unable to negotiate themselves?
I never used an agent when furthering my career and I'm sure you lot do not.
I know nothing about such things.

No agents are necessary...but wherever there is money to be made there is always some lazy fat d middle man wanting to get in on the deal no matter what it is for. In our world it's akin to the recruitment agencies (who pester me daily) wanting a cut of some hardworking blokes wage. I'd rid the world of the middle man
