Bad news that we play Leeds, Castleford and Hull within 8 days of each other.

Evens it out about though regarding the good friday fixture - wouldn't want you to have too much lead time on us.

Bad for Leeds also, they have to play Buuly Boys on thursday

Current forecast is for it to snow until around 7pm saturday evening then drop to minus 2 overnight and freeze it all. I'd say if that turns out to be correct (which it probably won't be) then the game might not happen on sunday either.

Well pleased, should have been sunday in the first place,if not on sky.

Playing tonight would be beneficial to us, in that we get a longer rest than Cas going into the eater weekend games. Generally, i would say we should play on a Sunday but on this instance i'd say it's bad all round. The last thing you want is plenty of games in few days especially with all the injuries we have.

Was our choice - to spread the games out and allow the players max recovery time.

At least this way we get another chance to put the game on!

We have a extra 2 days now,(which would have had anyway if played on a sunday)so there is your "max"
recovery time. I know its a busy period, but one game at a time,and so this game is the most important.

From what im told most will be back for Sunday, with only 2 left on the injury list and one of those hoping to be back for Cas. Hopefully nobody is added to the list before the Cas game.

Nope - they play when they like, we play when we like.



We played last Friday - so had 7 days up to today. We would then have 7 days before our 2 games in 4 days - or more importantly, our 3 games in 8 days. I can see exactly why we chose today, but it hasn't worked out - tougher on the players, but correct in the circumstances.

Seems a bit rash to have called it off so soon. But what's done is done

The Met Office has warned up to 15cm of snow could fall by tomorrow morning.
It upgraded its severe weather warning to amber for West Yorkshire and said the snow would continue until Saturday night.
Temperatures are expected to drop to -2°C on Sunday and cold conditions will remain well into next week.
The Met Office said: “The public should be aware of the potential for severe disruption to transport and to power supplies.”[/i

It has been grim all day though. Even if the snow eases off by this evening I'm sure a lot of people had already decided to give the game a miss. Of the four people I generally go with I'm the only one who was definitely still going.

At least the club has bit the bullet in good time.

It hasn't snowed for about 3 hours and even then it was light. I'm pretty close to the ground and most of the snow has melted. It just seems strange we didn't wait until around about 2ish to decide.

I think you'll find a major factor in the decision was a financial one. The reduction in attendance that the weather would have brought would hit the club hard and thats something that it can't afford. Lets hope it improves for sunday.

Yes. The 19 man squad announcement isn't really a hard a fast law of the game, it is just a SL guideline that clubs all abide by to keep things transparent and uphold the integrity of team selection. The laws state that you should post your team selection on the door of your dressing room and hand a copy to the MC at least 60 minutes before scheduled KO and you can only deviate from that team with permission from the MC, so a player being injured in the warm-up is the most common example. The final team selection does not strictly have to have come from the 19 man squad, but questions might be asked by the MC if players were seemingly deliberately concealed as being available for selection if they were not in the 19 and if indeed they end up playing. As such, if Agar did feel that a couple of extra days might mean that a player could be available for the re-arranged fixture who was not in the previously announced squad for tonight, then I would expect him to make this publicly known today so the Leeds management would be aware of a possible change for Sunday. The same of course works the other way around.

It could actually count against us in regards team selection. Anyone carrying a knock, maybe like Ali or Poore, who has been struggling to recover in time for the following weeks game now has less recovery time available, making it more of a risk playing them. Om paper Cas is probably a more winnable game than the champions so Agar will have to make an informed decision on whether to play them and risk them missing Good Friday.

I too was going to have a rant until it was pointed out that it would have given us a longer break.

30 Years of watching Wakey has made me that way!

Point is though would you risk someone who isn't 100% or save them and target the Cas game?

I still think it shouldn't have been called off at 11am. Right now, it's light snow (if even that), if the pitch is playable which it should be and the roads and paths are safe which they should be then why call it off? If it carries on like 'this' then it'll be fine.
