Can't say i'm overally happy at this news, hought he was the next big thing? Seemed decent whenever i've seen him, guess hes another victim of the academy changes. Did we offer him a full time deal?

Yes I know it was by Nosey Parker in the sun and as such is probably wrong but the same hint did crop up on here earlier this week.

Tom will be a loss IMHO he was looking good in the academy however he needs to do whats best for him First team at Dewsbury or duel reg? I know what I would be dong good luck Tom Morro building a decent outfit at the Rams.

On the plus side if more players from other clubs do likewise it improves championship standard and players such as Tom may be able to return to Superleague in a few years time

Jordan Grayston been offered a decent deal down under aswell but the club (WTW) are having further talks with him.

It's a fair point, however we can't sign everyone.
It looks like there will be a lot of players released and do their development in the championship and ch1, under the new system.

That's it, the RFL have created this situation where the club are having to make tough calls about young players futures, the fact of the matter is we can't keep every young lad that's come through the ranks. It's yet to be seen what this will do for the lower league and in turn SL and also whether the players having to move down a division can continue their development and improve more than they would of playing in the reserves every week. Not sure how the club can be blamed for this though, they are purely making decisions on a RL front, where money, squad size and talent are what matters.

The same worries are echoed on the Warrington forum, ironically on a thread about Bobby Goulding Jr coming to us.

The 'Mighty Leeds' also lost their U20's POY to Dewsbury, the next Sir Kevin apparently - cant face their forum to verify, but clubs have to choose which players/positions are most important.
Gotta say IMO that finding halfbacks is more important that finding a forward.

The championship structure could boast some real young talent next season.

Not true!

We pay into a system that covers the scouting, signing and development of young players at all ages up to Academy, which next year is limited to U19. These players now have to either play in the first team, be on dual reg or be released to pursue other avenues. The former 2 cost money which will come from the first team budget, not from the Academy budget.

We may have different opinions about players, but the club have done nothing wrong and certainly not with the 1873 money.

We have already kept Walshaw, Wildie, Cowling and Trout, with Slater, Fletcher and a couple others targeted. It's a decent return on the investment if they all make it!

Are we keeping Grayston? Wouldn't surprise me I he gets a full time deal this time round

The deal Grayston has on the table from Aus is currently significantly better than the WTW one but WTW are now in talks with him again and should offer a much better deal in my opinion but we cant keep / sign everyone.

The new system is going to make it very difficult to identify, develop and then retain players as part of the current salary cap; it maybe needs some tweeting or even dispensation for players that have come all the way through the system from a young age.
Many young players will hopefully benefit though from playing first team rugby rather than hanging around in the reserve system for too long waiting for a chance.

if its any conciliation I was talking to one of the scout/coaching staff that is down at Belle Vue and he went through a scholarship down at Leeds and he reassures me that what we have in place is as good if not better than down at Leeds.

so while you might be not happy at what you have heard please remember that if you want the club to succeed in producing talent please give this 1873 club a chance to prove it self

and i can garuntee all of these 3 players will play super league in the future. i must say im very dissapointed in the club this time round. but from what i gather you could earn more working part time in Aldi than what these lads were offered.. and yet weve got thousands to throw at players that other clubs dont want.

No one can guarantee those players will play Superleague in future.
We are not the only club releasing players as the new system kicks in.
Look on their forums.

Think we have 4 very promising if not more so in Walshaw, cowling, Kaye and trout.

You can't guarantee nothing, no one can and if you haven't noticed this is happening to every club in the League. As the saying goes don't blame the player, blame the game, the game in this instance is SL and it's call to change the current age group and reserve system.

What's all these unwanted players we're chucking thousands at? seems to me we're trying to maintain what we had last year and make the loan players permanent. We've also managed to sign one of the best young stand-offs in the country up in Golding Jr.

Anakin as well, like you say you just can't keep everyone not under the new system, even the likes of Leeds have sold their young player of the year.
