| The Hepworth gallery opens, Trinity Walk is open for its second weekend and, of course, its the biggest Wakey-Cas derby since the Battle of Belle Vue. The City will be absolutely heaving. No doubt a welcome sight after years of the city looking like a building site with numerous shops closing.
A great day for the City and with the BBC cameras at the match and a strong media presence at the gallery (with all the rugby fans flocking past). It'll be all eyes on Wakefield.
Being in my final year at Uni this'll be my first match of the season. What a day to return to the fold!! Cannot wait!!
COME ON WAKEY!!!

| You wouldn't believe it was going to be another great day in Wakefield if you were watching Look North this morning.
They started their report on tomorrow's opening by telling us the Hepworth is in Yorkshire which it is but they did their best to limit the word Wakefield in the report.
They went on to derogatorily describe it as a collection of about nine angular structures that had cost over £30million to build. Focusing then on questions to Wakefield council about their decision to build it when they are facing cuts of £60million to their funding.
All I could think was that they are seriously PI$$ed off that it's in Wakefield and not their beloved Leeds.

I just had an aunt move back to Wakefield from Kensington,, London after 30 years being away and she could not believe how things have changed. From her perspective Ings Rd etc is new and different from how she remembers Wakefield, imagine how different it will look when everything's done.
Westgate regeneration
Trinity Walk
New Market house
Bus station
Soon to be rebuilt Westgate Rail stn
The Hepworth
Waterfront developments
New Bull ring
Soon to be extended Ridings Centre
New swimming baths set to start soon
Hopefully A new stadium and other sports facilities
We need to get Kirkgate and the bottom of Westgate sorted and then things will look hugely different.
If Wakefield College ever revamp their ambitions to become a University the regeneration will take on another lease of life.

Look Leeds?
So, the issue was, Wakefield Council (with millions of grants from lottery and arts people) built something which is part of regenerating a city which has been neglected for years and started it at a time when the world was awash with money before the economic crisis hit everyone?
Crap and no surprise. I'm waiting for the letters page of the local rag to be slagging it and Trinity Walk off before long though.

| The Hepworth is a fantastic addition to the City, many people will moan about the cost and the design, but it will bring in visitors to the area, and ones that would usually not even consider going to Wakefield. Thankfully we seem to be departing from an image of a city full of a prison, pound shops and nightclubs. It taken a while but the regeneration is transforming the place.
As an aside, I wonder if the club are planning to have some sort of presence down at the gallery on Saturday, perhaps offering discounted tickets to the afternoons match to the visitors. I doubt the 10000 figure is for people expected to turn up tomorrow, but I would imagine there will be a mass of people in the area looking for something to do after they have visited the gallery. It would be great if a good few could be ushered down the Doncaster Road.

I've got family that emigrated to Oz back in the 70's and came back to Wakey for the first time since the early 90's and they were really impressed, with what has been done around the place but like they said, they've had to do so much work, to improve the City because a part from the Ridings, and Lightwaves nothing at all had been done to the city , in 40-50 years, which is a absolute scandalous, especially considering how much money we've all paid to the Local Council.
