| The boys gave 100% last night, no point harping on about who was missing from the Warrington side we can only play whats in front of us.
I thought Korki and Paul Johnson did a good job going forward and Howarth and Morrison must have completed 100 tackles between them. Renaldi gained good yards from Dummy half. The effort was there for all to see.
Wildie has arrived, he looked the part, full of confidence, he took the line on, his distrubution was better that Lee, Hyde and Renaldi put together. His defence was great. I suggest that he is a beter option that Renaldi, he should start and Renaldi should be the interchange hooker, I felt we left Renaldi on for to long and at times his fitness was tested ( the Myler try when Renaldi did no get a hand on him ) Wildie and Renaldi make a good pairing but now Wildie should get more game time.
Boy do we miss Jeffries, we just never look like creating a try, unless its from a kick. Its asking to much of Lee and Hyde to break open a SL defence. Hyde has a good turn of pace I would like to see him take the line on more. Lee kicked two 40-20`s which was great, but his passing was not good all be it in difficult conditions.
I thought, despite his dropped catch that young Johnson looked good. Warrington would have scored another ten tries if Blanch was still on the wing. His position in defence was great especially in the first half. All in all I think we have found a good winger.
Lets face it Warrington are a very good side but it was noticeable just how quick their line speed in defence was compared to ours. They have the ability to move up and slide at the same time, we move up two paces then only move sideways, it was easy for Warrington to make easy yards. We need to move up and sideways quicker if we are going to stop sides getting a roll on.
Once again we decide not to take the easy two points, It happens every match and the players need a boolocking. six nil down against Salford , run the pen , drop the ball Salford score. Last night at ten nil and still in the game we ran a pen dropped the ball they score. We are not going to score many tries we need to kick our penalties.
Can we also work on some set moves where we have some dummy runners, everybody is doing this except us. We just have one flat line. Warrington often had three dummy runners on a move with the ball going behind each runner and ending up with the winger ( did our wingers get a pass last night ). This is not about skill or not having the players, this can be worked out in training.
All in all get effort lads, lets work on the simple things - line speed etc.

| makes you wonder what they actually do in training because at times last night when we were in the wire 20m zone we relied on 1 man drives and passing along the line so slow it was like watching that university game on the tv last week. Totally unacceptable for pros to not create a single opportunity to score each set of 6 in that 20m zone. One or two of the young kids weve got could become quite useful in a few years time, providing this season doesnt dishearten them too much.

| we did have quite a few chances at the line and quite a few drop balls in the final pass. i'd agree with you . johnson will make a good winger and lee and hyde are getting better every game. overall, think the boys did great against a very very good opposition and some very questionable referee decisions. the improvement is there and actually i don't wonder what they are doing in training because i am sure they are working hard. to put in such a performance. warrington put 40 past leeds last week and after what these lads have been through we can be very proud of what they are slowly putting together. t.w.a.s.

I was asking the same question last night. No set moves, no evidence of set moves that abilitywise the players could not execute in a actual match. Just one man drives with no idea what to do on the last tackle. Comedy moment of the match goes to Hendo and his panic attack 'kick' when he inexplicably ended up in possession on the last tackle with the Warrington defence rapidly closing him down.

I think it is in some basics of the game where we are coming up short. Some of the passing is really bad either too slow, behind the man or about an inch off the floor. As you and others say no set moves or dummy runners making it easy for the opposition to read the play. If we can sort these two issues out, then even without a creative half back we would cause the opposition more problems.

| We are close to havin a very good side indeed in my opinion. We just need 2 big aussie props and a scrum half who is a excellent kicker and can get us around the park . Danny Brough anyone? No seriously that is what we need and I think things will be looking [size=150UP UP UP[/size

Why do the props have to be Australian?

| I was very encouraged by last night's performance in challenging weather conditions. Many of us were expecting a hiding but we got anything but. Stuck at it for the full 80 mins and dominated the last 15.
We are certainly not the finished article but the spirit and determination levels are much higher than last seasons squad.
Immediate improvement can be obtained if the players drill into themselves to be square at the play the ball and so cut down some of the silly penalties we've been conceeding. Admittedly we are struggling to break defences down but some days will be easier than others. If Hull are not at their best next week I really fancy our chances at getting a result.
Well done Wakefield, I'm very proud with your effort last night. Good observations by "bellycouldtackle" above.

| top effort once again !! i watched the highlights again, and as mentioned it looks as if we need some grunt going forward, hopefully that will be solved if or when hickey arrives !! id defo give wildie a start against hull, looked a threat and wasnt afraid to have a go at their line. i didnt realise how many tackles howarth puts in either !!

| I agree with almost everything in the OP. The only thing that i question is the thoughts on Wildie. You say he should be starting hooker but he isn't a hooker, he is a halfback and i think he looked a lot more dangerous when he moved into the halves. For me he should start in the halves at hull alongside Tommy Lee.
