It's obvious that there will be no big name Willie Mason type signings for next season and everybody is moaning about the lack of signings. But hopefully Newmarket getting the go ahead in a few weeks time and for next season a team of players wanting to play for the club but within our finance will get my support. Get Newmarket sorted and no major financial blips next season and we will get a francise. All we need to do is steady the ship for next season and move on with the bigger signings when we move to newmarket

Thats how i see it and it gets my support, yes i would like some decent signings and who knows we may get something of that nature but i'll back them with you.

I see this off-season as being similar to the one after the 2006 season, where we capped off a poor season with bargain signings, and they all came up trumps (bar Waine Pryce). For all this demand for quality signings, it has to be remembered that it is our star signings that let us down this year. Maybe it's time to go back into the mine to dig around for the rough cuts, rather than being scalped at Beaverbrooks, like we have this year.

Even Waine Pryce wasn't that bad a signing, a recruitment drive similar to that after the 2006 season will do for me.

Not like 2006 now, all the decent home grown players of a young age are snapped up due to:
New SL Rules, Poor exchange rate in UK for Aussies who can't make it there, and an improvement of scholarhips across country meaning youngsters are ready for comp...

agree to a point but i think the last 3 months have been far worse than the end of 2006, its not even about winning games next year its about getting people back behind the club, admittedly winning would help that, but the spirit has to come back, otherwise newmarket, if it happens, is a lemon, and a bloody big one that could kill the club or good in whatever league we are in.

i don't think it is obvious at all. think jk may just surprise us. there are still 1 or 2 top players out there and just because we haven't announced them it doesn;t mean we haven't signed them.

Isn't Kear off to Quins? That was the only bit of good news I had read this bank holiday weekend.

he must be a great coach. just this season he has had england, catalans, bradford and now quins banging at the door. how lucky are we ?

Well according to some fans from other clubs - we are loosing our SL licence for 2012 and therefore Kear is to take up the Quins job. Not saying its true, but Kears sudden interest in other jobs seems to indicate that he is not overly convinced about our future as a SL club beyong next season.

The fact that McNamara got the England job shows what the panel making that selection know about RL. Bradford did not come calling as I understand it - Kear put his name forward - Catlans thought that much of him, they wouldn't pay compo and as for Quins, they are still working to a tight budget so someone like Kear appeals because he is used to working with players from lower leagues

Or maybe he is sick of working with no budget at all for players, having rugs pulled from under him and no training facilities etc etc

And you think that he is going to have a much bigger budget at Quins if he goes there?

nope but they have facilities, plus RFL are sure to be contributing

well i am sure that if fans from other clubs are saying it, it must be true but i think there will be some people with egg on their faces before the start of next season

Not taking it as gospel, just putting two and two together (and maybe getting 5)

Lets hope your right about egg on peoples faces, although Kear still being at Wakey doesn't mean we won't be kicked out of SL in 2012, based on a decision that may have already been made

I think we have to try put alot of whats happened in recent months behind us and try to rebuild a loyal fanbase that supports the club so that we have something to take to Newmarket. If we keep dwelling on whats happened this season then next season may aswell be over before its even begun. A good final win at solford will be a good start to bigger and better things

My worry is that Kear may have lost the dressing room with the whole catalan thing I think hes great but they certainly want playing for him towards back end of season.
