| I understand that some work may have been done recently on the site of the proposed new ground, this consists of marking out the site etc.
Not sure if this related to the planning application but thought it was of interest to post.

Well according to the supporters of other clubs with new stadium builds that counts as work starting.

If Richard Wright saw someone putting a peg in the ground at Glasshoughton he'd cream himself and then publish an hour long feature film on their website.

| All the marking has to be done for full plans to be drawn up, this to me suggests that with planning permission being submitted in oct/nov the trust may be submitting plans for full permission rather than outline permission.
(which for the record is all Cas have)
Which in turn would suggest that we would want to move straight on with the work once it has been rubber stamped. And from what i have been told so far we could be on for the quickest recorded turn around for PP being given out, if you have ever requested anything from WMDC you will understand how long they take, but this could be no more than a formality.
Fingers crossed.

| Wonder how far the two stadium projects will have progressed by the time Labour lose control of the Council next May?
Once the Conservatives are running the MDC will they have any changes in mind to the type of support available for the projects?

One would hope they haven’t changed their mind.

I cant wait for the day I can start abusing Bulls fans for their stadium after the tons of abuse I have taken from them every time they visit ours

Do not think that for one minute.
Even if the council were behind the scheme in principal (and in some respect even more so if they are behind it), they will have to demonstrate that they have viewed the application objectively; considered all the opposition veiws and addressed any problems arising.
We have a [size=200 =redMASSIVE [/sizerole to play in this - details to follow shortly!

The land is also "green belt" so the planning application will automatically be called in by Government Office.
Planning permission is by no means a formallity and as TRB says we all and the citizens of Wakefield can play a part.

| Why would WMDC gift the land if there were any foreseen problems that would come up during the PP process?
By this stage at Thornes we had an action group to fight to build in the park, i really can't see similar levels of opposition to J30.
Let the hard work begin i say!

WMDC have not gifted the land, the land at Stanley belongs to Yorkcourt Properties. WMDC have given land to the Community Trust that they cannot sell but can use as security to borrow money against. Totally separate pieces of land if my understanding is correct.

| Would it be possible/practical for SWAG/Community Trust to do a presentation (or open evening) and fill everyone in on the details, if we need a big effort from the fans & citizens of Wakefield we need to know these finer details so we're all reading from the same page.

| Indeed WMDC are cash poor but land rich. They have provided the Trust an asset which they can use to raise capital. It’s a major plus but PP is a notoriously difficult process to negotiate and problems can come from all angles so there is still a long way to go. It might also be advisable to stop crowing on the Cas forum until building work begins.

That may not be a bad idea - if done in conjunction with the club.
There will always be an element of opposition - and we need to drown out their voices through sheer volume of response.
SWAG is still what is was set up for - to support the building of a stadium in Wakefield - but now we are looking to support rather than to protest. It's a positive move!

Why not do it at the club, video the meeting & put up clips on the SWAG website for people not able to attend.
Other than that i have always said we need to really push any move in a big way to the wider public to convince everyone this is something for all our district, not just 1 sporting community within the city.
So why not if possible use a couple of the empty billboard around town, put a few pictures of the new stadium, with that to get peoples mouthes watering and a snappy motto to go with it (something like we started pushing for Thornes "sport for all in park for all"icon_wink.gif there is no battle we can't win! It's all about marketing this to the city.

| Just an idea;
(The initial part of this take some groundwork, but could be all worth it as a visible show of support from the city)
SWAG (or representatives of) ring/visit shops & businesses within the city , speak to the manager/owner telling them what we do/what we want & ask them if they too feel strongly about the lack of provisions within the city & if they wish to help us by displaying a small poster (either A4/5) in their shop window that simply say "I support a community stadium for Wakefield".
Cost's them nothing & we build up a visible show of support around the city & if we record where the posters went we acquire a list of businesses who are for our case, which we could use again, if needed for petitions and such.
Like i said Just a idea, but i think we need people to be innovative & enthusiastic if we want this pushing through.

| I think much needs to be made about the creation of new jobs, about the regeneration of the coal pit site and the potential boost to the economy of businesses in the area.
We should start spinning the positives long before anyone gets the chance to voice their opposition to the scheme.
