How about Dominic Maloney from Hull FC for 2010?
Local Lad, out of favor at HFC, currently playing outside SL (so wouldn't be on super money) could be Mr Kear's type of player.

Has anyone heard anything about him either signing a extension or being followed by any other SL clubs, as i think he could fit the bill if we are to lose 1, maybe 2 second rowers for next season.

Boyle from Cas is another i personally think we should be looking at.

Whilst were talking about Barrow players i think that James Nixon is worth a look at...

Winger, scored something like 100 trys in 120 odd games for them, always held down his starting spot and hes only 24...

If he's going to make the step up, nows the time to see if he's got what it takes.

Thats a good call and I also think Whitehavens Craig Calvert is another who might have something to offer.

imo calvert and nixon are two of the best wingers outside of SL

If they are decent earners at their respective clubs, possibly with decent jobs outside of rugby (I will be honest I have no specific detail on this but it has often traditionally been the case up there), the money it might take to entice them to BV might not be worth it as far as the value we place on wingers. Particularly as Nixon looks far too lightweight to be driving the ball up on the 2nd tackle, which seems to be the main requirement for our wingers.

Calvert is a very good winger, I've come up against him a few times in his amateur days (got to boast I ran in a hat-trick in one half against him once including two full lengthers!! Sorry lol). However he must be at least 26/7 and maybe its a bit too late for him to make the switch to full time rugby. Think Nixon is younger and if we did as we did with Rooney (virtually a full season in the reserves bulking him up in order to get him ready for the big boys) then he may be worth a punt at the right price.

Nixon is only 24 iirc, so a year predominantly in the reserves wouldnt be a major issue i dont think...the club/kear has a good record at turning Championship players into SL players....shall we start a list...?

At nearly 33 and a snapped but recently reconstructed ACL and a busted cartelidge I dont think Id get the fans on my side right away but me give me time........... Id play on one leg for the club but unfortunately I don't think JK would touch me with a barge pole!
