According to today`s League Express Cas are trying to get out of a contract they are alleged to have with Tony Martin, apparently they`ve `miscalculated` the Quota arrangements for next season. Tony is reported to be taking legal advice to force Cas to honour the contract. Does anyone on here have any concrete info on the situation?

I know the Wakefield board get some stick but this, if true, is a major cock up. Only problem I can foresee is that RFL's ruling on overseas trained players may end up being challenged in court over this issue, which in my mind will be a bad thing.

The board at cas must not be very bright, if there giving the accountants responsibility for the quota and number of overseas players they must have for next year.

Cas are obviously giving Tony Martin a 'good welcome' and encouraging him to play well for them if they end up having him as a player.

I think we should do the decent neighbourly thing here, so that they can balance their Quota books we should take Rangi Chase off their hands, problem solved, easy

Tony Martin is unusual in that he is on the over seas quota ,but he is classed as federation trained and that is probably where Cas may have got confused (if true)

Spoke to the man himself on Sunday and he said he wanted to stay and was waiting to see if JK 'was gonna look after him'......

but maybe he'd just say that anyway

Agreed, think u may have to help with the club with the sales pitch lol.

Don't suppose we've got room for him on our various 'quotas' after he said he was flying the nest, so why should JK/WT 'look after him'? Although there is a solution, Cas pay for his contract, and if we have room, they loan him to us.

Am I right in thinking that one of the things that Martin does is help coach the Academy? In the Morrison article, that's one of the things he stated he would be doing. Seems to me that Cas have cocked up big time here and left the player in limbo, assuming what has been posted is true. Still, if the contract's legally valid, that's their problem to sort out. Poor organisation, really poor...

ive posted a few replies about this on the Cas site. I have been told quite a bit about the details of this fiasco and all I can say is that Cas seem to have slipped up big style.

HOWEVER I WOULD LIKE TO ADD.

We have quite a few knockers about our club and our board on this forum but they are light years infront of some of the people of influence at Cas and there is no way they would have got us into the mess that Cas are now in.
