Don’t know about the Cas project but this pretty much ensures that the Newmarket site will be used for the benefit of the community rather than the profit of the club. Keep hearing good things but without specifics about the development, hopefully something will be revealed soon.

Question is.
Will it be land at stanley and glasshoughton
or just stanley.?

The article does read that both Wakefield and Castleford will be lent land,I shouldn't read too much into it myself.

Now reading some of the posts on Castlefords site, most of them seem to Indicate that either they (The Tigers) or Waystone own the land that is proposed for their site, and the indication on here is that the land we are looking at is owned by the developers. So are we looking at different sites, a joint site or i have i read something into nothing!

The land refered to is not the land that will be built on. It is land that is owned by the council it will given by the council to a trust ( wakefield community trust ) . The trust are then able to borrow money against the land and that money is then used to finance the building of the stadium.

So you end up with the stadium builders / developers able to be paid, and the stadium owned by the community trust. The Rugby club then rent as the stadium from the Trust.

The council will be seen to have done their bit and it will not have cost the taxpayer a penny. The council owns vast sways of land, much of which will never be developed because they cannot afford to develope it. This way all parties are happy.

Our trust is headed by Rodney Walker etc etc.

I do not know who the cas community trust are.

Anybody else notice the article in the Express about the Local Authority lending Wakefield and Cas land in order to to be in a position to raise money

It goes on to state that the land will be discussed in privateby the Councils Cabinet on Tuesday.

Land to be held in trust with a caveat that the clubs cannot sell but can use it to raise funds. Theissue is being discussed urgently according to denise Jefferies in order SL franchises criteria can be complied with.

Reading the article its in line with comments from Wakefield but totally out of sinc with Cas and Waystone if you read the article.

There clearly needs to be some transparency here

Any news from todays meeting? All the rumours I keep hearing are very positive and the stadium is at a more advanced stage than alot of people realise, just looking forward to some official announcements

Why is that? Are we media-savvy enough to get the right messages out there?

Which would be relevant,apart from the fact that neither club can actually sell the land.
They can only use it as an asset to improve their balance sheet,thus improving their chances of lending money.
