The Leeds game being moved to the Friday night from the Sunday afternoon?

Ah yes, I was wondering when that would be happening, its because there's this stupid agreement between both clubs that say we have to play each other on Friday nights, regardless whether or not its at Headingley or Belle Vue or unless SKY say otherwise, even if it isn't a TV game.

a charity walk from the Headingley South Stand to Belle Vue is happening (hopefully on the Sunday!) before the game

We play leeds on a friday night at belle vue just about every year, would not surprise me in the slightest.

this is the one and only reason that I will not buy a season ticket anymore I can count on one hand our Sunday 3.30 kick offs Friday not too bad but Saturday Ps me off big time

It is most likely done for commercial reasons so you can't blame the club.
They can guarentee selling all their corporate wine and dine packages on a Friday with the business community.
Whereas a Sunday would be more difficult.
Simple decision in these day's and times.

I bloody hope not, if it is the case why the fooook do they not put it on the fixture list as being on a friday. Think I will give the season ticket a miss next year, have already missed enough matches at home to not warrant getting one what with sky and the whino's.

No just think your missing the point. Local Derby. Leeds do have the greater number of supporters both ORDINARY and corporate who are offay with playing on Friday evenings.
The simple fact is it will bring in more revenue for the club playing this game on a Friday evening.
Agreed it could have been moved at the start of the season to avoid this discussion.
Another point for debate though when the new stadium arrives do you think we should move all our home games to Friday evenings.
To me a no brainer greater chance of extra revenue,plus all the weekends free.

maybe a bit extra revenue from locals but we will lose out from people travelling from lancashire etc

I prefer Friday night games so will please me if it's going to be changed which I guess it will be.

Forgot to add that it's sad to say but the ordinary fans of which I am one have lost out to the Prawn Cocktail brigade.
But that's the nature of the beast.
We have to accept that the commercial revenue the club can generate helps create a better product on the field.

That's the key. If it's not moving for Sky/unforeseen circumstances, there really is no excuse not to have put it down for a Friday when the fistures came out, especially as this has been a Friday home fixture for a few years now.

I'm not missing the point. The point is to maximise the profits - which is fine. But there has to be a balance between cultivating the corporate ££ and doing right by the fans. Our attendances are weak and, seemingly, getting weaker. There are two posters on this thread considering not buying season tickets because of changed fixtures (I haven't bought one for about five years for this very reason). We can't survive without fans on the terrace and we can't survive without sponsorship and business interest so we've really got to find a way of looking after the interests of both.

been a season ticket holder for the last three years it forces you to go mentally because you think your throwing money away, last year our holiday dropped on the hull home game, the one I didn't what to miss, this year before she booked she looked to see if it will co-inside with any home games, this year she didn't realize the challenge cup final date and booked this years hols

she's getting better for next year.
I would say most season ticket holders put them selves out what ever the date, why should huddersfield the other day when they was on telly have the same problem, televised in the pub is too easy

i hate the night games, i always like to bring the kids with me but with them only being age 5 and 4 its not good at night games as they wouldn't get to bed till 11 as i live in York,

The worse case scenario would be if it is a Sky game ie unhappy fans and less through the turnstiles and I feel that this is the reason for the change (apparently confirmed by Leeds RL at the game today).

no way, too much messing about if you've been at work all day friday, leave it to Sundays

If the change was due to Sky then I could live with that as they put a lot of money into the game, changing games at this stage should not be allowed to happen, I have now made my mind up, NO SEASON TICKET FOR ME NEXT SEASON.
