And because of that "game", I'll be watching the Lions later in Welsh (SC4) as I don't have Sky, and guess what all the pubs will have on.

Can't say I'll be watching it. I tried to watch the game a bit years ago, just couldn't engage with it. Dull, full of unnecessary complications with technical infringements, far too much emphasis on territorial kicking and ruck play which to the spectator resembles inebriated tramps fighting for possession of the last dregs of a bottle of white lightning.

No, dont watch friendlies in any sport

….. and that’s shows what rugby league is up against. The amount of coverage a friendly against a collection of South African second division players gets dwarf anything League can muster. I couldn’t care less about the tour but I know the results and seen the tries. No wonder the causal observer does not realise there are two codes of rugby.

Leaving the politics aside, when you grow up watching league and players actually passing and trying to score tries, watching a full back kick at another full back, players piling on each other and the ref giving a penalty which is then kicked, I can see why some would have a negative attitude.

No, I don't understand the 'subtleties and nuances' and the 'technical nature' of the game, but I don't enjoy basketball either...and that's another sport which rewards mistakes rather than exceptional attacking play.

I have been watching league since the early 60's. I also played union at school back then. I know when you look back at the past things can seem different than they actually were, but !

If you look at RL and RU circa 2009, RU is much closer and far more like the league that was played in the 60's than the present version of the RL game.

Just my opinion others may differ.
