St Helens have just confirmed the signing of New Zealand international Sia Soliola, who i have seen play a couple of times and at 22 looks an outstanding prospect i and i can't help but think we(wakefield) need to attract a couple of quality KNOWN signings like these to help us push on. Not that our youngersters arnt up to it but...

I realise the otherseas signings dont always pay off King, Monaghan, Riddel and the quota and Salary Budget makes things hard But surely grabbing a few of the out of contract names from the nrl

You have to look to the future though, can't just sign players for now you need to sign for the coming seasons and years!

Silly to compare them 2 any way! Southernwood is still only young and not played a SL game where at TL plays week in week out.

It is a bit unfair to compare our 4 players' against those. Meli and leuluai have four seasons at least in sl and Hicks a couple. Dont know much about Puleatula but I bet he has had plenty of experience in the nrl.

Maybe we should be worrying about attracting new fans to the club, then the rest might take care of itself.

Youth development with a smattering of experience is good.

It is yeah, but to compare the young lads to experienced SL players is a bit daft, well a lot daft in fact.

I agree with the fact on experiance and about the youth thats up and coming but i think we need look at the fact that we need bigger signings, the comparisons i.e southernwood wasnt saying who was the better player but who could do the job to push us on in both the league and the challenge cup! Yes there are some youngsters coming through the ranks that can do the job FRERGY for me is the form second rower in england, the lads come on leaps and bounds and is/(was till injured) our best and most consitent player throughout the squad. I am not one of the forgiener is best group no, looking at the bigger picture we need to blood in as much british talent as possible but we need to attempt to lure some quality maybe even test players who the youngsters can play with and learn off, look at the increase of Hudds, Hull Kr and Cas oven the last couple of year with the mix of a only few overseas signings mixed with the quality of the young blood coming through!!!!

We often see the same complaints on this board and they all centre around one thing;

Money!

Hull KR and Huddersfield have a backer who can afford to bring in top talent (in Huddersfields case, probably at a fair loss with the substantially discounted season tickets) and Castleford have a decent core of support which can be relied upon whereas Wakefield fall short of their average.

The whole reason for share sale is to raise funds for Kear to target quality players to drive the club on from one that punches above it weight for 2/3 of the season to one that can compete for the full campaign.

I think as a club we should be looking to break the reliance on oveseas players ...

there are hundreds of players here in Australia who would walk into the wakefield team... but so what? we have restructured Superleague to take the fear of relegation away.. so lets ake the most of that and bring some british kids through.
