St. Helens centre Tyrer, currently on a season-long loan at Celtic Crusaders, has now gone on loan to Widnes. If they weren`t going to play him why did Celtic take him, baffling or what?

Young lad, long way from home. Maybe he didn't settle. Would be my guess.

Or he turned out to be rubbish at everything except goalkicking. A bit like Henry Oulton.

But he was a good goal kicker, worth a place on the wing. I've seen him kick goals that won us games against Leeds at Belle Vue which are as rare as rocking horse doppings and away at Saints.

One of the best kickers I've seen. It's just that he wasn't much good at anything else. He always reminded me of Swift Nick of the Richard O'Sullivan Dick Turpin TV series. His brother Willie was a better player, although he ended up at Leeds (if my memory serves me right).

who's that lad for fax that never kicked a ball before this season for points and has a remarkable record of 32 out 33 consecutive kicks before last nights game, a player like that can win you many a game

Could be a new thread. Who is the worst player to only ever get a place in a starting line-up because of his kicking? I'll go for Craig Huby.

As for players who had a career because they could kick goals there are two that stand out for me.

Darryl Halligan at Canterbury who also managed to play for NZ.
The winner though is Ross Conlon at Balmain, he was absolutely rubbish with ball in hand, made Offiah's defence look like Ray Prices and he also played for Australia during the eighties.
