| As far as funding for J30 goes, keep your ears to the ground!
Two HUGE grants will be announced within the next month. Sport England & The Youth Sports Council will both commit to the project. Thats what you get for having men in charge with connections.
With these grants and the market leading supermarket interested buying BV funding could be in place before the end of next month. With that in mind and the creation of jobs and future income there will be no problems getting PP.
However untill they are announced the project will continue to get be frowned upon by some people. Not that we care, from what i was told, both applications for funding were applied for with a view for it to be spent on Thornes, funny that things have picked up pace since it became official that SRW was on board.

I think people living on and around Newmarket lane will have other plans.

| do you think wmdc will listen considering how much they need new jobs, income, investment and positive publicity. For what its worth i think the resident population is too small to form a powerful action group anyway.

| In todays society, its not what you know, its who you know...and a project like this has a lot of 'who to know' people involved. Wakefield badly needs an economic boost and this stadium will give that.
no matter how many folk are against this going ahead, it wont matter! this project has the right people & organisations involved !!!
Also, a little birdie tells me that there are no bats knocking about near J30

Without trying to sound too cynical I dare bet that the majority of residents couldnt really care whether the ground goes up or not. But I dare say they will milk it for all they can. The outcome being a touch of compensation allegedly of course.

Agreed, There was a women in paper saying about an extension that she was refused, all she will care about is getting that done and don't think she will give 2 hoots about the ground.

Sorry to disappoint you on this one, but BV will (eventually) become housing - not a supermarket. The planning process has been underway for some time for (I think) 150 houses.

no every little about it.
2 seven figure grants. more than enough for other investors/spectators to sit right up and take this project very seriously.

Ted did put a planning application in for housing on the site though didn't he Al, so unless the supermarket have come in with a late bid it would seem that housing would be the obvious use, which would be a shame because you could well imagine Tesco (assuming SWC meant them) paying more for the opportunity of building on there than a housing developer.

As a nation we don't have a housing industry anymore! in effect everything has been scaled down and frozen up to ride out the economic storm. Tesco have been dying to move in on the Wakefield market for the past decade. An area the size of BV would be perfect, with a local population to draw from for employment from with a good mix of working and middle class housing estates in the immidiate vacinity. And while it may not have the best road access at the moment for a company that employs more people than the British Army and makes over a billion pounds a week this is just a mild and tempoary inconvenince.
Tescos will move in on the Wakefield market theres never been a doubt.

I've heard that Tesco want to get back into Wakefield & they were rumoured to be a partner for building a setup similar to Warrington's at J40 of the M1. Although the construction industry isn't having the greatest of times at the moment, I'm very reliably informed that the club got one to put pen to paper before the credit crunch hit.
