Been to Leon's funeral - stood outside with hundreds of others as the service was relayed over the speakers.
Very poignant and upsetting to see 4 of the young reserve grade players wearing their Wildcats shirts carry Leon into and back out of the Church.

Wasn't there but just watching that is gutting. Couldn't stop the tears with the pictures of the academy players carrying his coffin, they're just too young to have to worry about that kind of stuff. Well, they should be. But then Leon should have been too. RIP. |

I was there and I can honestly say it was one of the most heart-breaking ceremonies I've ever been too. It was good to see the whole Salford and Wakefield teams there and other players at other clubs he used to play with. Couldn't of give him a better send off IMO.

Last week when some of the fans started to sing 'There's only one Leon Walker' I heard a few groans from people who thought it was inappropriate, I on the other hand thought it was nice, and this has been echoed by his dad ( in the Wakefield Express).

Yeah that was us. We clapped the family on the pitch and then started singing "There's only one Leon Walker" He was talking about it on the way to the ground saying it would be really nice to hear it. Glad he liked it.
Can not think why it would be inappropriate tbh. |
