| Firstly what a wonderful season on the pitch it has been so far, the effort from the TEAM has been sensational.
To a man they have been selfless in their attitude and endeavour.
So how dissapointing it was on friday to see the lads apply themselves so poorly.
Yes i know it is only one game and i am in no way unhappy, disgruntled etc, my point being i have really enjoyed the season and the commitment, there has been no stand out players just a group of men that seem happy and confident playing the game they love.
Now it may just be a coincidence but when the likes of Brough and Sculthorpe return we appear fragmented i would love to know how these two view themselves in terms of there contribution to the TEAM.
In short i feel we have been very well organised by Drew and JD etc, Drew is head and shoulders above Brough in terms of dictating a game, we are talking about consistently doing it.

Seems Broughy is our scapegoat for Spring 2009!
No-one can make any sense out of the game played last Friday - it's not possible.
Move on!

How Broughy is a scape goat is beyond me - just look at his try saving tackle against Les Cats the other week very impressive if you ask me!
Friday was not the night to be looking at performances it was more a night where the players had to get through and be as one which I belive we did
Move on - Correct reply to the first post

Brough certianly does not lack passion but he can cause some problems amongst our own team when on the field (ie) throwing the ball at his own players.
Agree with you about Friday, we got through it and have to pick ourselfs up and hope we don't have to deal with another tragedy like it.

I don't think so - it's nothing of the sort, me personally I just feel that the team that played the first 5 games looked as balanced as any I have ever seen at Trinity. If and it's far to early to tell Brough and Martin fit then great, if not what is wrong with Martin playing and Brough not. No one has a devine right to play. It doesn't make Brough a poor player or a scapegoat just makes him not the automatic first choice which just shows how far we have come

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, but having read your post 5 times I still cannot make sense of it. Your first two sentences' contradict each other
and to say that they applied themselves poorly implies that they intentionally went out with that in mind. I think not taking everything into account I thought they were brilliant even though we playing such a bad side as the Saints. No stand out players' Drew was top of the AG poll till he got injured what about Martin and Ferguson I'll not go on save any embarrassment. I would love to know what you mean about our play being fragmented with Scully and Brough playing I bet in keeping with the rest of your post it will be very imformative. No seriously

Come on Mutley, the players had had nearly 5 days to get over this latest tragedy, surely they should have been able to get over it and play to the highest level.
I know what you mean about posters on here, some of them really don't deserve an answer.

| There's only so much Brough can do, surely no one expected him to come back and single handedly beat St Helens?
Brough tried his best, but to be fair Grix really was the weak link on Friday! He's been amazing so far this year, but on Friday everything he did seemed to backfire on him! This just happens from time to time and hopefully Grix will come back stronger because of it!
I just don't understand why we have one bad performance and suddenly we need to blame someone for it!
Just because Scully and Brough have come back from injury means nothing...since they've come back, we've lost Martin, Drew, Stosic and Bibey to injury.
Thats our two stand out performs so far this year (Drew and Martin) and two props who have been making yards consistently! I's be surprised if that didn't disrupt the performance of the team!
Maybe instead of looking for people to blame, we should just accept that with all the injuries we've had so far this year a performance like this was always a possibility!
I'd rather us play badly against Saints, who we weren't expected to beat than against Shudds or C*s!

| I am particularly disappointed to see criticism leveled at Sculthorpe for his performance on Friday as I thought he was our stand-out forward. He was our only forward who was consistently making yards going forward and Saints were clearly wary of his ability to off-load.
On his day Sculthorpe ranks amongst the best forwards in SL. If he gets a bit of long overdue good fortune, by staying injury-free, he could play a very significant part in us having a successful season.

| We were obviously dreadful, only scoring 18 points against St. Helens, this is the most they have conceded in any game this season, Leeds managed 18 as well, so our shell-shocked, patched up team as is poor as the current WC champions/Grand Final winners, how disappointing.

| In other circumstances I would voice an opinion about the game on Friday, but under the current circumstances there is really nothing to say. Anyone with an ounce of compassion will feel that the result/performance on Friday was irrelivent in perspective of the tragic loss of a young man. Still that said and having listened to Mr Walker (a man who I admire) the players need to run fast, think quick and smash into the opposition while the fans cheer with passion. We all need to enjoy the life we have for as long as we are given it. COME ON THE TRINITY.

Dont tell this to fullofhope We have played all our matches' with as many as 8or 9 players' out every game this season and imo we have punched well above our weight. On friday night as well as having to deal with the tragedy of Leon Walker RIP we have no Bibey, Moore, Stosic our 2 stand out players' this season Drew and Martin are both missing not to mention Brough and TLL are only 2 games back from injury it is also Grix's
1st game back and lets not forget to mention the mighty Saints the best side inS/L for the last 2 years just what do some people expect?

I agree, i notice no reply from the original poster. Had we won the planned Celtic game we would have been top of the league, when you consider the injury situation i thibnk that is a good start to the season. Obviolsy the last two weeks have had a real effect on anyone, together we now move forward and whislt everyone is entitled to there own opinion this is a very strange one.
Lets's all get down to the cup game on friday and do our bit to lift the club we all love

Maybe because Friday night wasn't a particularly amusing night, and to read anything into the performance is pretty brainless.
