By all accounts Gareth had a very good game on his debut.

Made some big hits in defence and a couple of breaks.

Maybe at fault for one of the Raiders tries though.

He left a hole at the end of the game but that didnt result in a try...
came close himself with one barnstorming run...

put in some monster hits... and was first to be interviewed after the game... Trinity also got a couple of mentions in commentary.

ps my two sons make their Aussie RL debuts this weekend for the famous Como- Jannali Crocodiles (under 14)

call me a moaner but sorry i dont care about how well he does and never have since he left, no sour grapes just i only care about my team and the players that represent it

but it is good for our team that a player was discovered by our scout John Holroys, learnt the game in our Academy along with the likes of Ben Westwood, Keith Mason, Danny Brough etc and has become one of the main GB players and is now playing in the NRL , it could help attract more players to our club. Apparently the Selby area is a hotbed of talent etc etc . Its called thinking outside the box.

How lucky are you ! Keep us up to date with his progress, my source in Sydney told me Gaz had a good first game v Souths the other week.

Just watched the DVD of the game and GE had a superb match certainly got the comentators onside with some high praise.

Four or five big hits and a tremendous run for the try line, just being hauled down a metre out.

Interesting comment in the build up that Gareth wa huge "He's a monster".
I've heard a number of Ausies come over here and remark about the physical size of the players over here, Stosic said something simular during a pre season interview.

I've never considered Gareth to be particularly big but they seem to think he is, He certainly looked bigger than many of the other forwards on the field though.

Home of the famous Crocodiles is Como not Jannali. The Como "hilton" pub is a great place for a drink or a feed, we tend to stay away from the Jannali Inn. I'll be sure to walk over to watch the U14's and cheer them on at the weekend, presume they'll play Saturday arvo rather than Sunday? Best of luck to your sons,

i think selby had people there when the pits were opened that had moved from this area. i think theyve got the odd team out there now but not sure how many junior teams, sherburn have a couple of teams and wetherby further north are starting to get a decent few teams together and some of the juniors looked ok

Sherburn Bears. Remember playing them very well. Didn't get many chances due to parents/coaches friendships but shut them up with a length of the field try in the U12's i think it was. My playing highlight
