| I'm not having a go at either but which one knocked on. Me and those around me thought it was Grix but the LE says it was Blaymire?
The report in LE is very complimentary by the way.

| Was Grix that knocked on but Blaymire should have called for it, as Grix had to run 20/25 yards for it while Matty B was about 10 yards away. Therefore Matty B has to take the blame but he more then made up for it in other areas of the game on friday.

Can't go for that. Now I'm sure it was Grix I'm certain he steamed in and shouted it. I suspect he was eager to run it back and find a gap, great if it had worked.
Can't see how you can blame Blaymire for Grix overconfidence. Anyway he will live and learn, if it's Blaymires ball let him take it, he's good at it.

If Grix called for it,the blame is solely with him.
What was Blaymire supposed to do - tell him "no im going for it,you can have a dabble at the next one"

| I'm sure it was GRIX tbf.
He did have to come a long way to get it and it be fair to the lad, no one else seemed to give a monkeys. he was the only one that made any effort, unfortunately for him he didn't get to it and the rest is history.

I believe we put Matty B under the post for a reason at the kick off, and thats to claim anything that comes in his "zone". When you watch the video again you'll see that Matty B doesnt move while Grix is aware of the type of Kick off and reacts to get in postion as soon as possible. Like you said Grix should have left the ball for Blaymire, but if he doesnt get in postion and make a shout for the ball its pretty hard just to leave him to it......

I thought Blaymire was going towards the ball but then stopped so I presume Grix made the call, everyone makes mistakes and both had good games in general. Blame probabl lies between them, maybe Matty should have made an earlier call for the ball and maybe Grix should have seen the ball was closer to Blaymire and let him deal with it.

| Whoever makes the call it is their ball, if Grix calls for it and Blaymire go's in then that would be nothing short of amateur. IF Grix called it then he is at fault simple as.

I tend to agree.
Let's also not take anything away from the kick, as it was put into a good area, up high which caused problems for us and which allowed Leeds to get close to the ball.
A well judged kick and a bit of bad luck on our part.

Spot on - one thing I like about RL is that there are so many different factors to enjoy, from 'blitzkrieg' forward plays to sweeping back moves to well judged kicks or crunching tackles. I prefer it if it's Wakey doing it, but just occasionally other teams can show a bit of skill!

| As established it was Grix.
A leeds fan next to me actually said before the ball was kicked that if they could give the ball some height and drop it in the huge gap, there was as much chance of a Leeds player getting there than a Wakey lad as there was a huge space between the 10 and our try line.
I replied, dont worry, "we will cover it if necessary" and low and behold they put it there and Grix has to come 20 metres to try and claim it.
When you only have to cover half the field that shouldnt be happening but i would think this will be rectified for this week.

We've been caught out leaving that gap before, seem to remember Seinfeld kicking one through to collect. Think it was when Leeds absolutely battered us at home.

| Anyone remember the home game a few years back against Saints when they scored straight from the kick off with a similar punt. Holland wasn’t playing and the ball was placed about 20m in front of the stand in fullback. Needless to say nobody was there to collect it leaving the path clear for Saints to regain the ball and score from the next phase.

| What is with the need to blame Blaymire for this?
What has he done to upset some of our so-called fans?
Just when he looks like rediscovering his form from the season before last we have to start having a go at him again, it is pathetic.

Not sure anyones really having a go, me personally I just wanted it confirmed. What it has confirmed for me is that the media just don't watch the game or if they do they watch it in a lazy way and only have eyes for big name players.
Blaymire for me is and has been for a while one of the best players at the club, an absolute natural F/B, but that's just my opinion.

come on vasty as much as i like and generally support blaymire for the majority of last year he was not one of the best players at the club, in terms of performance anyway. for whatever reason and there may have been many he failed to kick on from his excellent first year. it's early days yet but he has looked assured and confident this season and seems to be returning the ball with much more purpose. if he keeps it up i would be more inclined to agree that he is indeed one of the best players at the club
