| Quote ="sixtogo"The guy who was chief executive the last time we didn't pay the bills and went into administartion you mean? The one in charge of the day to day that has presided over a company with a clean slate being on the brink of going pop once more after just two and a half years?
I'll cut Glover some slack, he doesn't run the club day to day and is not a rugby man. Although as chairman and businessman he should have been stronger he has put his trust in people who, quite frankly, are incompetant in the roles they are in. He needs to act NOW or it will be too late. The club needs a CEO who knows how to manage a business, someone with experience and the relevent qualifications. Alongside him needs to be an experienced general manger and director of rugby to run the club and advise Glover and needed. They have at least employed a firm of accountants so we now have someone who knows what a balance sheet is but more has to be done.
So will Glover remove his mate? We'll see if he has got the bottle but failure to act will result in failure of the club. We cannot continue down the path we are. It's still just about salvagable, but the clock is ticking towards the witching hour rapidly.'"
Well, I think that if we do sell Cockayne and Amor we as fans should demand that Elston is removed as CEO as he appears to be one the most inept CEO in super league. It's a disgrace that we are in this position again and Elston should be held accountable but the buck stops with Glover.

| Must say it does seem rather 'immoral' to be cajoling fans to buy season tickets when people are so unsure as to what the squad will be like.
Smith T n L plus Ben n Amor not exactly fringe players.
Rumours need to be quashed now if they are false.

| Don't get it. Danny Kirmond, probably the hottest property in SL at the moment signs an extended contract, presumably as he feels we have a future but then we hear that Amor and Cockayne have signed for Hull KR, a Club who about this time last year were in danger of going into administration. Tim Smith is signing for Salford and Lee Smith is signing for Wigan/Castleford/Bradford (strike out who you wish). Plus there was the rumour that Washbrook was also Hull KR bound.
Doesn't add up to me. Perhaps the rumours are just that rumours but if true we are really in the brown stuff.

In all fairness to the club they can't do much about rumours. There is no doubt that a great deal of bad publicity about the club has found its way into certain sections of the press.
Other clubs pick up on this and yet again we are seen as a soft touch and you get a bit of a feeding frenzy in respect of some of our better players.
Other than ride it out ,the only thing we can do is release some positive news. So if the club have done any player deals I would think they should announced ASAP . If we keep quiet and do nothing it only breeds further doubt and suspicion .

That's exactly what I feel.
It does not make sense and is illogical .
If turns it out to be true Kirmond ,Syke etc will surely feel that they have been conned?

| A few interesting points worth noting:-
1. Clubs should manage their finances better and more prudently and leave sufficient headroom in their budgets to be able to better protect themselves from one-off events (such as the Eric France debacle).
2. Players are bound to become unsettled when a club receives CCJs and winding up petitions by HMRC. These players have mortgages/bills to pay and families to provide for like you and I, and are well within their rights to seek to maximise their income and importantly the security of that income.
3. Rugby club management often tout players to other clubs without the players knowledge, so as to extricate themselves from a contract which the club signed but no longer wish to pay for.
4. Agents act in the best interests of the players who they represent. There is a market for players to move between clubs and most players require/seek advice on how to maximise the return for their ability. Its a short career as a rugby league player.
Unfortunately it is the loyal season ticket paying fans who suffer when the club finds itself in a bad place financially (whether self determined or not) as its usually their beloved team's best and favourite players who look to move elsewhere for a more secure income to pay their bills/mortgages and feed their families.

=#FF0000Yes and no....manage finance better yes, leave a contingency for the full amount of your main sponsor? I don't think so.

=#FF0000And yet, the biggest assets we have of Kirmond, Collis, Smith, Aiton, Sykes have all knowingly gone against that. The fact that they could easily get another club and stayed makes me more confident about the club
3. Rugby club management often tout players to other clubs without the players knowledge, so as to extricate themselves from a contract which the club signed but no longer wish to pay for.
=#FF0000That's fine, though "OFTEN" is a strong word, but we don't appear to have done that. The only official approach has been from HullKR and we said they came to us and we said no.
4. Agents act in the best interests of the players who they represent. There is a market for players to move between clubs and most players require/seek advice on how to maximise the return for their ability. Its a short career as a rugby league player.
=#FF0000I'm ok with the agent thing. The players earn out of it and wouldn't use them if it wasn't of benefit to them.

| Well according to Nick Rigg Wakefield Express Elston says there is no substance in Amor rumours and new contract negotiations are on going.
Also indicated Ben was staying put after HKR offer rejected.

I agree with this!
Re the rumours, don't forget Poore was mentioned as leaving too! At this rate I might get a game!
I take comments on here with a pinch of salt, anyone can start a rumour but for some reason they tend to be taken as fact on this forum!

| I'm not convinced just because Elston says they haven't signed for other clubs they won't have, end of the day they are pushing season tickets on us currently, who's going to say yes we lost 3 or 4 players but we are charging u more for the season tickets? Also weren't we told that agar wasn't going to be our coach at a fans forum thing a few years ago?

Do you mean I am not very supportive of my club I have been very supportive of for over 50 years, in good, not so good and down right depressive times.
To clarify I will always have my season ticket even though I live in France.
I will always buy Match dvds and purchase from shop every time I am over ets etc etc.
I was worried about the more fickle fans, new fans and well----- bandwagon jumper onners who all clubs need to be fair.

So what should we do "as fans" if they are not sold?
Would you suggest we accept that Elston may not be doing a bad job or will you will you hang on to that particular agenda item until something else is rumoured that fits the story?
