Anybody else notice the article in the Express about the Local Authority lending Wakefield and Cas land in order to to be in a position to raise money

It goes on to state that the land will be discussed in privateby the Councils Cabinet on Tuesday.

Land to be held in trust with a caveat that the clubs cannot sell but can use it to raise funds. Theissue is being discussed urgently according to denise Jefferies in order SL franchises criteria can be complied with.

Reading the article its in line with comments from Wakefield but totally out of sinc with Cas and Waystone if you read the article.

There clearly needs to be some transparency here

Whats it about and who owns waht land its clearly no where near as cut and dried as some owould let us believe

Any news from todays meeting? All the rumours I keep hearing are very positive and the stadium is at a more advanced stage than alot of people realise, just looking forward to some official announcements

Which would be relevant,apart from the fact that neither club can actually sell the land.
They can only use it as an asset to improve their balance sheet,thus improving their chances of lending money.

Turfedout, the council are not giving the land to the Rugby clubs. They are giving it the the community trusts. Wakefield Community Trust is up and running, headed by Rodney Walker and others. Cas are setting up the Cas community trust I think Ivette Copper is involved.

So the Rugby clubs will not own the land and therefore it is not an asset of the Rugby clubs and the rugby clubs do not incur debt.

The land is been given to the respective Community trusts, it is they who borrow the money against the land and it is they who get the grants and they build and own the new stadiums. The stadiums are then community stadiums, the rugby clubs rent the stadiums from the Community trusts.

TBH I think he was being metaphorical in a jokey sort of way.

I wonder when the offical announcement will be announced by the community trust? I suppose it is up to them not the club as its a community trust stadium not Trinitys. Were the council in talks with trinity or the community trust I'm confused

Ours is obviously community based, wheras Cas is part funded by the sale of their ground, i would imagine they will have a greater say and higher income stream than we will have. I understand that a partnership between Waystone, WMDC and Cas have formed a stadium company.
