Now that it is out in the open that he is leaving I think he may try and go out with a bang.

We should always be grateful to John for what he has done and that continues until the end of the season then we look forward to a new coach..

Well well!

First of all
Thank you John

We were a club heading for relegation when JK came in, struggling to regather ourselves after the debacle of T Smith, he brought something with him and it took immediate effect and we survived.

The following years saw us reach the dizzy heights of 5th in the league, play off football, the emergence of a number of Academy products during an horrific injury hit season, a Challenge Cup Semi final and more play offs.
All this achieved with one hand tied behind his back due to the lowest salary spend in the SL.

John dipped into the lower divisions to find players who's potential seemed lost and others who's careers seemed over, Moore, Wilkes, Fox, Grix, Brough, Golden, all have reason to thank John Kear and Wakefield Trinity.

Through one of the saddest and most tragic periods of the clubs history JK stood out as a strong individual who orated the emotions of everyone involved with this club to the wider world. He did so with a sensitivity and compassion that were perfectly balanced by a professionalism and determination to play and win that honoured and respected the spirit of those past and present players we'd lost.

Even this year he's manfully got on with th the job, built a team and gained some wins. We've wrestled a begrudging respect from many because we wouldn't roll over and John has been central to that attitude.

He's not everyone's cup of tea but for most of his tenure he was the right man in the right place at the right time for Wakefield Trinity.

I don't blame him for looking at other jobs, no doubt he knew what was happening behind the scenes.

Like the saying goes,
"There are only two types of Managers
Those that just got sacked and those that are waiting to be sacked"

I think this is the right move for the club and for John Kear, so good luck John please don't come back to haunt us like you have Hull FC.

No doubt a large proportion of the posters on here then!

kear kept us in superleague in 06 in what was one of the most fantastic and exciting periods in trins history and a massive achievement.

but recently he seems to have gone a bit stale and i would agree it was def time for a change.

fantastic fella and good luck to him for the future.(unless he goes to cas, in which case hope he never wins another game

Good luck to John , I think he will pull out the stops in the last few games, he is in the shop window after all

since taking over Kear has taken us to a whole new level, we have gone from second bottom every year to mid table (exept this year which is more down to off the field problems than on it).

We now need somebody to come in and take on to the next level and getting in the play offs every year.

the one thing that looking back on the time JK as spent at this club is the sheer lack of ex players he as managed to lure over our way , normally this is one thing you can be sure off i mean how long as he been with us now and how many big stars have come to us saying that the reason they just had to sign was john ?

he did us proud to keep us up as did the squad and us the fans , we had good top 6 finish and a gift trip to the semis , but i really do think its time for a dear john letter as he is part of the teddy brigade and is now like a square peg.

i will always support jk, just found the rugby stale this year. the bloke has acted with dignity all through his wakefield years and the problems that have occurred. THANKYOU FOR EVERYTHING MR KEAR!

I think John Kear played a huge role in holding this club together through some extremely difficult and testing times. You may not agree with his methods in every instance, but the fact that we are where we are now is in no small way down to him. He leaves with my respect, best wishes and thanks.

He can leave with his head held high in my opinion.

Some people make me laugh!!! NOBODY else would have kept this club in the super league in 2006, NOBODY!!
2009 we finished 5th, thats 5th in super league despite working from one of the lowest budgets in the comp
The tragic happenings that have surrounded this club over the past five years and JK handled this with dignity and kept everybody together.
Just three reasons why John Kear deserves your respect, ok his tatics recently and at times in the past have left people scratching their heads BUT this isnt a good reason to pull the man apart bit by bit! That would be pretty childish imo..
Just say thank you to John Kear for all you have done for this club and good luck in the future, this club wil go on no matter what, have some dignity for goodness sake!!

Totally agree with you man. JK has done a magnificent job and we lost our way mainly (maybe totally) because the club ran out of cash.
The wheels began to fall off after Broughy left last season, which probably allowed us to survive the rest of the year.
This season we began on the brink of oblivion, without enough players to put out a full team and in retrospect we have won more games than most people would have expected (some said we wouldnt win a game !).
There has been a problem with the style of play over the last few weeks and the signing of Hickey certainly won him no friends.
However, with all that has happened with the club while JK has been at the helm, he deserves our gratitude and appreciation.

Of course!

John should leave with his head held high. He's dragged us along since the time he saved us from relegation, and through some difficult and tragic events.

I've had a few conversations with him over the years and he has always been very passionate about the club and fans.

I know we argue about the "style" of rugby he likes (or has to) play, but he has my support for the rest of the season.

Let's let him leave with a bit of dignity and no abuse please.
