| Yes, but we also remember the anti-climax to last season.
This year, we need to kick on and not fade out.

| I think McShane has been hit and miss this season really, often looking a good player in a very poor team and poor performance. Generally when he and Godinet were interchanging I thought we looked better when Godinet was on the field.
Never been a big fan of Moore though and cannot think that I have seen much of him to form much of an opinion, however I think he seems to have a bit of a nasty streak to him which is something we have certainly been lacking since Justin poore left.
I hope he gets stuck in and gets to the tackle as third man regularly and tackles the legs, lost count of the times I have watched players waltz out of or offload from a two man tackle, or at best be tackled stood up allowing a fast PTB.
one things for sure changes are needed.

| Whats the problem . The teams been crap all season with very little effort or skill shown from 1 to 13. You would think we had a team of world beaters by some of the comments. The players on the move have gone a little earlier than expected so what. Mc shane s wobbled about all season I don't think hes broke in to a sweat all season. You can argue that he will perform better in a winning side, lets be honest he will have to

Exactly!
If we were breaking up a winning team I could understand it but lets face it the players who have left, McShane, Ryan, Collis and Dan Smith were actually integral players in a losing team!
I'm not saying they were the total reason, of course but if BS hadn't made any changes he would have been up for as much criticism as he apparently now is. does that make sense -it's late!

| I don't know Moore's situation into next year, but let's say the choice of hookers is between two players of comparable quality in a situation where a bit of fight is required, and have the following circumstances:
1. Hooker 1 has a contract elsewhere for next year already sorted and is seeing out his existing contract.
2. Hooker 2 has no contract and is playing for a contract somewhere.
In that scenario, I would go for hooker 2, Scott Moore.

That blows my argument out of the water. I can only assume McShane couldn't wait to go, so we felt we might as well get a replacement of some sorts rather than have that tub sulking until September.

| Let me tell you a few things about Scott Moore. He is one tough soab. A real tough character, gritty and will work very hard. I've seen Wakefield a few times this season and that isn't something I'd associate with your team. Scott Moore played 75 minutes for us v Catalan playing all the second half with a broken foot, scored a crucial try and was motm, roughly 8 weeks ago. At magic weekend he was knocked out with Scott Anderson and hasn't featured much since (v Leeds he made the icon cuthburtson spill possession allowing Cas to drop a goal) but we've had milner and Ben Roberts at 9 a fair bit.
I don't know what I think of mcshane or where he fits. But overall I have been happy with Moore this year. I have took the mick when you signed Owen and tansey but not this signing. If anything I'm a bit disappointed.

| I think we have really missed Owen on the wing. But that's not about this.
Macshane had a few good games this year but I'm not fussed he's gone. His defence has been lazy and weak for a long time now and despit a few good kicks and a few decent runs from the play hes been far too ineffective for me.
I'm glad he's gone, whether it be attitude, fitness or ability he has not been good enough overall this year.
We will see if Moore has what it takes. Macshane unfortunately except a few ocassions I feel has let himself and the club down this past month or so in the attitude/application front.

What is certain is that we need 17 players who will give 100% for us come game 1 in the middle 8s.'"
This made me think of a 'what if...'
What if BS thinks that the weakest link in the team is the fitness levels. (after his son came over and did an assessment)
There is not enough time to improve conditioning before the vital part of the season.
So, just swap out a few players for ones from other clubs in positions we need who are already better conditioned?
Maybe he's a genius?
We'll see.

| We saw exactly what we needed from McShane in the game v Warrington.
Pace, direct, sharp, strong...unfortunately, it all came from Dwyer.

| I think Mc shane was well down the order of S L hookers. dboys 100% right. Mcshanes been slow at play the ball, he does not create anything, he very rarely attacks the line, his positional plays been woe full.

| IF Moore comes with the desire and attitude to want to play and fight for a contract next year or put himself in the shop window for me you have a much better player than the one he is replacing.
If he is just here to make up the numbers then their could be a problem obviously however despite the level of support I have seen on here for him I personally think McShane has been poor this year. Ok I have only managed to get to about half the matches in 2015 so there is a chance he has been good in the ones I've not seen, but I doubt it.

He may well have, but they've effectively just signed a replacement for him on a 2 and a half year contract. How do you think that makes Moore think about his position at Cas next year???
I'm assuming/hoping that he thinks he is going to be playing for a contarct elsewhere as he is surplus to requirements (or at least down the pecking order) at Cas.

Exactly. He may have a contract but I highly doubt he will be at Cas next year one way or the other.

| Its difficult to make a judgement before any player pulls a shirt on. Leeds took a good solid performer in Aiton and shipped out Mcshane Its not that long ago we shipped a hooker out to Featherstone and he played a part in our 7 match winning run. We also shipped out a make do stand off to Feath and for me hes been one of the most missed players to leave. His kicking game was far greater than anything we have seen since, he could grab a 0ne pointer and his defence wasn't that bad either.
Players come and go and you will never get every supporter to agree on the value of every player . Hookers need to send out accurate sharp passes from play the ball, have some kind of kicking game, attack and score from close range and have good tackling ability. The chances of getting one who can display all the above are remote. I can only think of one playing today and he aint about to leave St Helens.

| McShane hasn't been on the best form lately but even so Scott Moore is still a step backwards in my opinion. There will have been financial benefit releasing Dan Smith and Paul McShane early in their contracts in my opinion.
It also weakens Trinity at a keen stage of the season in a key position, with one game prior to the middle 8s for Moore to develop an understanding with his new team (for the next couple of months at least until he signs for Leigh or Bradford!).
So many new faces makes it difficult for the coach to develop understanding between them before the competition starts.

| I cannot accept that McShane shirked his duties for us. I would remind those that currently the one who bounced off for Castleford's first try is contracted to us for next season to play hooker.
I have read that the signings were agreed by BS but I doubt he would have a great deal of knowledge about the players we are signing because most have not played much for their own clubs.
We have now reached the point of no return and must go with what we have. I hope that the search to save money does not lead to our relegation but that is the risk Carter has taken.
