i once played in a school boy game at half time and one of our players ran the full length (none of this short stuff in them days) and then ran in to the post and dropped the ball, after the game we met the players and Wally Lewis was playing for Trinity and the teacher said to him have you any advice for these kids, after to hearing the story of the game Mr Lewis said "never run with your eyes closed", and that my friends is why he was a legend



i suppose however bad it is, i have been going there for 25 years and it will always be my theatre of dreams.

I sure will miss BV when the time comes. I've grown old with the ground, my kids have grown up with the ground . Lots of memories and people may call the old girl, but she is ours and you always defend your own.

Two bits for me that sum up BV and while we all know we have to move on, it won't be easy for us older ones to deal with. You could say its just grass and concrete but its far more than that.

There are many things I'll miss, too numerous to mention.
One thing I do continue to get though is a spiritual lift from just driving past the old place. I can never drive past without physically turning my head. Many a time I have a smile and sometimes, following a win, punch the air.


Whatever happens to the old ground I might put a bid in for that Donny Road Frontage. It would be great in front of my house.

Also all the miserable moaning gets though I imagine we'll have to take them with us.

This is just what the club needed, will be a really exciting time over the next year or so with talk surrounding the new stadium.

I think the pitch is one thing ill miss as its easy the best in Superleague, but apart from that theres not much we'll always have the memories and its not as if you want be seeing the same faces when we move to Stanley

At least we can have a proper "KOP" behind the posts its one thing I think Belle Vue lacks, when we go to Away games i feel its such a better atmosphere we make so much noise on away games, home games its as if people are scared to make noise

I was wondering if theres anything of Belle Vue that people would want to take with us as a reminder of the old ground?
I know a lot of teams do this Middlesbrough FC have the gates of there old stadium on there new stadium things like that?

I was assuming the old ground was going to be turned into a park dedicated to the broccoli tree.

1. The walk through the cemetry

2. The Puddle obstacle course at the turnstiles

3. Being able to move around and stand wherever i please

4. The Pitch

5. Kids being told to put their legs the otherside of the wall only to put them back a minute later

6. The Benidorm flats and watching Kear twiddle his finger in his usual spot.

7. Cats Bar and being able to mix with away fans in the bar beforehand

8. Daddy Cool jumping on the old dug outs

The Belle Vue ground is older than the game of Rugby League itself.

The events that occurred within it's walls, on it's pitch, are not just the history of Wakefield Trinity and the greatest sporting moments that the town has witnessed but it is the chronicle of our great game. All the legends and greats of the game, since its very inception, have played at Belle Vue and that makes it very special.

It would be nice if we could leave the old place in style, befitting of its history and memories. A commemorative book and a special final game would be a fitting way to leave our Belle Vue.

Im delighted for your club at sorting out plans for a new stadium, but are you going to miss belle vue?

as a halifax fan belle vue was one of the grounds i have most enjoyed visiting to watch a game of rugby (mainly because of its traditional feel), lets hope your new ground retains the same sort of atmosphere and doesnt end up taking 10 year to finish like ours!

I'm sure I'll get round to reading the text part of your posting eventually!

Standing in the rain

The closeness to the city centre, the amount of facilities around the ground but more significantly, the fact that some great players graced the Belle Vue pitch, the fact that Wakefield Trinity once defeated the mighty Australia in a tour fixture, the fact Yorkshire/Challenge Cup finals, the fact that legendary actor Richard Harris acted scenes of Oscar nominated film This Sporting Life, the fact that its a ground where you could follow your team which they're attacking in each half, the fact that you can get food/drink without going through concourse tunnels and can just turn round to see if anything exciting's happening, the fact that at after the final match of the season, you could greet the players on the pitch. To be honest, quite a lot things would be missed if/when Belle Vue goes, although it is time to move on and make a fresh start.

Definately the pitch, the wooden shack, the old scoreboard and many many happy memories of Neil Law, Sovatabua and that crowd surviving against all the odds all those years.

Brooker pickin that bloke up and carryin him back 20m and droppin him over his own tryline.

The "Come on Triniteeeeee" woman

and more recently that awful growling/belching they play over the wakey team readout.

Aye I will definately miss BV, big part of my life since 11 and i will be sad to leave, but glad also that we are (touchwood) movin onwards and upwards.

shes not been seen for ages, did once have a chat with her mentioned she was going to south africa not sure if it was hols or what, does anybody know whats happened to her ?

Saw her last game I think, certainly last season - still wearing that massive black coat in summertime

has she moved from the gate where she used to stand, can remember her being in uproar when the fans went on the pitch against cas, seems the type that would have a go at a mugger
