Unfortunately the fact we're getting any sort of a deal is a bonus, I really thought we would end up with nothing (who knows we may still do). This Thursday will se if the decide to show a bit morality or wriggle.

This.
I actually believe that once the new East Stand and the fully re-vamped North stand along with whatever else may be planned are done, the new BV will actually suit the vast majority of Trinity fans than NM ever would have. It will also be finally decent enough to attract new fans, assuming the team ever start to play again.
That by the way is not excusing what has happened, that is a scandal of huge proportions. All the same, IF it happens then it is indeed a bonus because I thought all was lost.
The tragedy is that right until the last minute our future will be in the hands of a man I wouldn't trust to clean my windows. Oh well

Too much time on my hands, had a look through the documents that go before the planning meeting this week for the company I believe is to provide funding for the BV redevelopment.
I came across this paragraph on page 44.
A separate full planning application was received in December 2020 for the construction of 3 additional warehouses on plot 8 ~ which is the plot approved for the construction of the community stadium to the West of Newcold on land which was retained within the Green belt. A current application has been submitted for improvement works to the existing Rugby league Stadium at Belle Vue, which the plot 8 applicant proposes to cross - subsidise the delivery of as the basis for their Green Belt Very Special Circumstance case. Neither of these applications are linked to the plot 4 Application with which this report is concerned and will be assessed and determined separately. There is no linkage between plot 4 and the delivery of the Community Stadium.
So, I’m still not sure if this application is the one we should be supporting. Why am I still feeling uneasy about the situation?

I'll be honest planning is not my thing, I'll try and find out but it may be a while. I have a direct line to MC now but I'm not that important and I don't want to push it so bear with me.
You are right to be uneasy we are in an area fraught with issues in an era where anything can go wrong. All I know is logistics are a huge growth area and the profits from developing NM to its full potential makes the monies offset for BV small change and well worth the cost.
I don't know exactly how it works but although we can't actually stop it long term, we can make it incredibly time-consuming and expensive for them, hence the BV money is. a worthwhile investment. Also with Henry Boot now on board the level of respectability has increased several notches.
Fingers crossed that at last justice is at least partially done.

| typical poor wakefield express headline. plot 4 is part of the original warehouse scheme- not the land earmarked for where the stadium was going to be. That is plot 8!! so therefore its the next application that needs support. The plot 4 ship sailed many moons ago, and a few people got very rich using Trinity as a trojan horse

Don’t know if this is the one to help us with the stadium funding. But I’m sure someone will make a few Bob out of it.
Giant new warehouse on Newmarket Lane in Stanley, which developers claim will create 1,500 jobs, given planning permission
A huge new warehouse to be built on former greenbelt land on Wakefield's northern edge has been given planning permission.

Just looking through the WE report, this paragraph took my eye.
The warehouse will be built on land which was allocated for employment when planning permission was given for a new community stadium on Newmarket Lane in 2012.
That development, which would have seen Wakefield Trinity relocate from Belle Vue to the stadium, never came to fruition however.
My concern is this, the land in question is I believe plot 4, my understanding is that plot 8 is the development that releases stadium funding, if plot 8 is eventually given planning permission. Therefore, how did the original site for community stadium become dependent on plot 8, when plot 4 is now up and running for development, before our stadium funding has been secured?

Initially I was very positive about this re-development. As time is flying by and the bulk source of funding (I would imagine) have now got the planning they desire I’m becoming increasingly apprehensive that this development will happen. I may add that while we are waiting on planning the somewhat larger development seems to have been pushed and flown through at pace.
I hope I’m completely wrong but if this doesn’t happen now then it never will and I’m sure the long term future of Wakefield trinity will be bleak to put it mildly.

I was advised on Tuesday, by an employee of the club that the 2 floodlights due for replacement in April, have not yet been replaced. I’ve no reason to doubt that person. There is no WMDC planning meeting scheduled for May, perhaps our application will be heard in June, but at the Q&A sessions, MC and JM, have both said, demolishing the East stand would happen in September, after our last home game. I hope I’m wrong, but I think the September date is looking less likely.

Sounds ominous. With Carter now considering his position within the club presently too it doesn’t look good for Wakefield Trinity. I really hope we can get this east stand as it will resuscitate the club to some degree.
It’s probably just apprehension with so many false dawns on my part.

I suspect you are reading too much into this though I fully understand why.
As far as I'm aware the Cats bar roof and the floodlights are being funded by the club and are not part of the development package.
The roof has been done, I suspect the lights will follow very shortly. Remember we are still under Covid restrictions and things are still running slowly, I'd give it at least another month before worrying.
As for the planning, Covid again I suspect.

Understand your fears but if MC were to leave it wouldn't be because the scheme had collapsed, in fact, I suspect it's the only thing keeping him here. Six years is a long time and the last two would have drained anyone.

The main pitch is going to be a 4G pitch so all field training will be done on it so there wont be a need for a training pitch

Tomorrow is a chance to use your vote locally in the local elections. On here most people are not happy with how the stadium farce has been handled coupled with new build just approved that's 6m higher than New old I certainly know which box my vote is not going into!

Yeah I suppose that’s true. Would be a strange time to leave I suppose with a big re-development in planning stages and funding secured. I’ll stay positive it’s going to happen till we know more. I think the planning should be fine. It’s more the funding that I hope we have a cast iron agreement for.
