Max has only and will only feature in our squad in times of need, where we’re struggling in an injury struck position. What does that tell you?

I don’t know why Chester gave him a lengthy contract only to have him as back up but Max clearly isn’t in his plans going forward.

IMRO - Jowitt isn’t up to the SL speed like Johnstone, Crowther and Batch. Once everyone is back and we’re hopefully injury free I’d get him out on loan in the championship and see how he gets on, if he can get some game time and prove me wrong then happy days, if not it’s another Chris Annakin situation, never really good enough despite trying.

Jowitt was starved of 1st team footy once Grix was allowed back. Nothing can replace 1st team action. We will never know how his game would have progressed with a 2nd consecutive season as 1st choice fullback.

I agree. Max has been totally underused since Scott Grix. He would have made fullback his own. After all he won the Rookie of the Year a few years ago. He doesnt appear to have the confidence of the coaching staff.

Excellent achievement to be noticed, especially by the entire RL community but I'm sorry this one achievement should not and does not solidify his place at fullback. Two head coaches, numerous assistants and he still hasn't been given the number one shirt. It's not one person who holds this opinion on Max and these are opinions of people who watch him daily in training and analyse hours of match footage.

Max should hold on to that achievement and be proud of it, similar to how TJ can say he's represented his country and scored a hat-trick on debut and Batch toured PNG with the performance squad.

3 head coaches - two of which he was under 19 so he was hardly going to play week in week out then. I would say his treatment has been quite shabby but he’s only 22. So plenty of time for him yet.

And yet despite that opinion on Max, you still think that Hampshire is the real deal given that several coaches at other teams have not regarded him as such and not picked him regularly in any one position.

You've got a lot of convincing to do Dreadnought I think exactly like you. But some on here have those rose coloured specs on when they think of Max, He has got good qualities & some bad qualities as well. I said 5 or 6 seasons ago that he's not a fullback & should play stand-off & the reason I said that because of his defence & I got absolutely slaughtered on here for saying that. I even gave examples but the roses wouldn't have it. If you watch the Warrington game twice he let the player-run past him & then tackled him over the line ( He did that a lot when he played there regularly) & then the other one he could have tackled Austin but instead did a spectacular dive & just missed him again did it a lot when he played regularly at fullback. Playing at stand off I thought would probably toughen him up a bit & help with his tackling & to some extent it has, But at the moment he does lack the foresight that other stand-offs have. Now wether he can learn the craft is another thing but to do that he needs a good scrun half that can bring him on. But he's not going to learn anything from Chester & his team of coaches. I'll probably get hammered for saying all this but like Vasty/Fcrap says It's only my opinion.

I like Max a lot but as said he has flaws.
He's one of the best we've had under a high ball and can pass but his organisation of defense and his personal defense are not great.
Hampshire is not the FB answer either but has speed on his side.
That's why I like Walker as he's good all round.

Max I'd play at half back but he has a lot of development to go to be a starting 7 in a super league team.

Get him out to Dewsbury for a season with Paul Sykes (although I'd imagine he will have retired by the time the season is underway) and let him have a full year playing halfback under someone who can coach/guide him through. We do not have enough time left in this season to develop him and next year is make or break.

Personally think it was a great achievement by Max getting the Albert Goldthorpe. A great season and a lad with plenty of Skill. Quality from Batch getting into the England Knights and a lad with great work ethic! Crowther is doing very well too and this last few weeks 3 quality players have said this about Jordy without prompts,

"One of the best trainers and toughest competitors I've come across in my career".
Ryan Atkins. "When you look at the attributes of some of the younger players here at Wakefield, the likes of Jordy Crowther has what it takes to be a great player".
Joe Westerman. "If you ask me which player is going to play 300+ games and captain the club for a few years I'd say Jordy Crowther".

No, but Johnstone got a man of steel award for young player of the year which I would argue is more of an accolade being that it is voted for by fellow players. Isn't the Albert Goldthorpe decided by a group of journalist at the league express?

By the way, Jowitt is my pick for Fullback I have rarely seen him have a bad game but for whatever reason he is not Chester's, I just dont get it but maybe there is some other reason that is not clear to see from just watching the team play every week, tbf there is so much more to the FB role than meets the eye, organising the defensive line from the back etc maybe this is his down fall? I think he would pick the Dreadnought over Jowitt if he lost a couple of pounds.

I like Max but he’s a million miles off TJ. I’ll add to what you’ve already stated, 1 cap with a hatrick and wasn’t he in the dream team?

Max is a good pro, TJ is a star who’s frankly wasted with us at the moment.

I'm not going to act like I didn't receive a call from Chris when Walker and Rocky were out but I'd just tested positive for being the hardest fella in Wakey so I was unavailable for selection.

Not sure I agree about the organising, looks ok to me. However his one on one defence is poor, huge weakness.

However age and regular games should improve that and in his defence he’s never had that.

CC suffers the same fault imo that most British coaches have, he won’t stick with young British players. Yet he will persist with over rated Aussies and British players past their best, fault he learned from JK.

I loved JK but during his time at BV hardly any youngsters came through. CC started of with an open mind but has gradually lost his nerve.

Just how I see it, might be wrong, but it’s a constant complaint I hear about both men.
