except I think I have seen something in him which would work well with more ball in hand... often full backs in attack are used as a second stand off... and Max does that well! oh, and Lockyer was a class player who worked harder at his game than the other class players around... a bit like Cameron Smith.
I loved the quote from Smith about his early days in Melbourne...I think it was also Craig Bellamy's first pre season... apparently after one training session Bellamy called him to one side.. Smith was happy that he had easily completed another set of tough conditioning and ball sessions... Bellamy said to him; 'you look like you are out there just trying to survive to the end of the training session... in future I want you to use each training session as a focus to improve yourself as a player!''"
I totally agree with you, one of the dumbest of the many dumb quotes on here is "he's not a xxxx he's a xxxx) as if your born to a position utter tosh.
I agree that Fifita is unlikely to ever make a scrum half but other than prob most other players could theoretically play anywhere. I mean some scrum halves are six foot these days.
The thing with Max is why the panic - he's 20 and not a regular first teamed - wow. He's got a gremlin in his game - wow. He's all the time in the world and imho he'll have a much better career and live if he has to wait a little.
Grix hasn't got that long left as a player so the chance will com. What max needs to worry is what's coming through the academy right now - that's his real problem.

| Went to oxford today to watch Jordan and Max against York. A cracking victory for Oxford. A try for Max and missed just one kick , both had a solid game and Max took a right head shot whilst dealing with a bomb which looked serious but fortunately recovered to carry on, both waiting for their chance hopefully sooner than later

It's really important that Chester gets best use from his squad, especially having Easter and it's associated hangover to get through.
Although hindsight is a wonderful thing, I thought that he might of rested a couple of regulars for the Widnes game.
Having said that there is plenty of competition for places at the moment and we have quite a few waiting for their chance.

Chester had said he was targeting 3 wins from 5 which were; catalans, Widnes, Cas, Wigan, Warrington. There's no doubt in my mind that Catalans and Widnes were two of those three so Chester will have picked his most settled team to play them. I can see a few different faces possibly coming into the Cas game as that's one which would be nice to win instead of a targetted win

Despite two really good performances against Les Cats and Widnes, I really can't see anything other than a comprehensive win for Cas - they're miles ahead of us at the moment.

Maybe he might save his strongest side for Wigan, due to their injuries a win against them atom looks more likely than at Cas.

Said on Friday night that I felt more confident in beating Wigan than Leeds. How times change.

At the time they were miles ahead of Salford, hope they have a similar performance!

Much as it will hurt to get done by Cas (again) I'd go with that as well and throw all that we have at Wigan, who play Saints on Friday, their first game without Cunningham in charge, so it should be a bit tasty.
Of course, we'd love to beat Cas and Wigan but, I dont see that happening.
Mind you, IF we could beat Cas, confidence would be off the scale for Monday.
Over to you, Mr Chester.
Using the squad over Easter and the couple of weeks after, will define our season.
As I said on another thread, maybe we should have rested a couple for the Widnes game ??

| If we turn up on the day there is no reason why we can't beat Castleford, Salford did it - 1-17 need to be on their game and have the correct mindset. Get on top of their forwards and don't give Gale any time with the ball (9/10 times he is influential in their moves).
Wigan the following Monday will be no walk in the park.
Castleford are a good side and the results so far show that we are too, lets not go understrength and get a cricket score put on us (that'll be good on the confidence wont it?) we have players that are abe to come in and replace knocks and niggles for the monday too.
