Not quite that bad but he picks his moments and certainly isn't a roll up your sleeves player. However he's simply injured far to much to be worth the risk regardless of any other issues.

Enlighten me on what's not true about that statement please. My opinions are my own with what I see with my own eyes. Kirmond certainly is no god. The year he got into the dream team was exceptional, but hasn't been even close to those heights since. Name another SL club that would have him in the starting 13. He's stready away, about our level really. Captain fantastic ? Nar.

Mariano was a cracking player, very briefly - but he picked up a reputation for throwing the towel in when things got tough; since then, it's difficult to judge, as he hasn't featured regularly for Cas due to injury. Would be a big risk.

How many players would go for that.
It's pretty much the same as a zero hours contract and that wont pay the bills.

No he isn't even close really. The past 2 years Kirmond has played 14 games last year and 12 this. Mariano for Cas has played 5 last year and 5 this year. What you can say about kirmond is that he's strapped himself up and got out on the pitch, when the teams needed him, even when he's been injured.

Well I think that's just silly if that's the case. Playing injured causes further injuries. The semi final appearance was pointless; bordering on plain stupid.

I doubt a good coach like Powell would let a player go if he was firing on all cylinders and could strengthen his team.

The guys obviously missed games when he's had to due to medical advice, they're the ones that make the calls ateotd. The point was what you said was wrong, they are not close as far as missing games and injuries but hey you keep having a pop at him if you want.

I'll have a pop at all players until they are playing consistantly well. Chester said we are aiming to follow in Cas's footsteps; as much as it pains me to say it he's very right. Kirmond wouldn't get anywhere nr a starting place at Cas, patched up or fully fit.
It's not only a dig at him, it only takes 3 or 4 players not performing to a certain level to make the side look dire.

Don't get this knocking Kirmond when he has often put his hand up to play when he has been injured much to the detriment of his own health at times more so last season when we were a small squad short on numbers. Mariano aint a bad player but would he have done the same I don't think so

2014 Mariano was quality for us. Played the majority of games, added really impetus off the bench with good leg drive and ran great lines. He's had some really chronic luck this last 2 years which are nothing to do with lack of heart. He played a few games this year and showed quality. A fit Frankie is far superior then some of the names mentioned on here eg Walton molloy etc.a risk, yes, get him playing and it will be a risk worth taking. For what it's worth, i had heard a few weeks ago he was Wakefield bound. He spent some time online with Batley this year before playing for Cas.

Is it a pure coincidence that our good run earlier in the seasin happened when Kirmo was fit and playing.

Unfortunately injuries are starting to take its toll on his body and really the same with Mariano. So I wouldnt bring him in to replace Kirmo.

What I would do though is look at a new captain for next year. It is unlikely he will be fit for the start of the season. Last night as well as the last few weeks that despite experienced players we have no leaders when he doesnt play.

We have no vocal leader when Danny does play. Chester has identified the need to recruit some more vocal players as the current squad are a quiet bunch

I can think of some useless supporters we ought to get rid of too.

Like I said before you were totally wrong about how many games Kirmond has played V Mariano & imo it was in poor taste to single him out considering what's just happened to him.

You say that he can play but, Powell wouldn't get rid if he was as good as you think.

Weve had a number of Ex Cas players over the last few seasons but, only Arundell and Finn have come up to scratch.
