| Quote ="Bavaria Crown Tiger"Not sure if this is a wind up or not but for me Westerman isnt the shining light that we should build around, that player is Chase. Westy went stale and was known for his drinking through the week and turning upto training half drunk. I think it is decent business for us. He wont have improved under Matterson and obviously did not want to stick around so Cas took the money for him now rather than let him leave on a free next season. Why keep an unhappy player in the team that would have done more harm than good? My only worry out of all this is he is very good friends with Chase and may try to tempt him away.'"
No point tarnishing fallen idol Westerman as a booze hound and then bigging up Chase. Who was Westy on the lash with?
I think he is a big loss for Cas, symbolically, if nothing else. But we all need money to pay our way. You got a decent price, at least.

That is true, i know for a fact Chase is a boozer along with Westy, but at least Chase played well last season unlike Westy. Along with the fact we have got money for him i think it's a decent deal all round.

| The biggest worry for Cas is the stadium financing 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
Joe will be missed but the team will adapt, the biggest worry for me if I were a Castleford supporter would be the loss of Joe Westerman so soon after Michael Shenton and to a lesser extent Matthew Dawson, Ben Gledhill and Liam Watts.

| Quote ="Sandal Wild Cat"I've said this all week. Cas are as broke as we are- except we don't have to find 11M+ to fund a stadium.
Even if they sell Joe (who I've never rated) and get the application in they'll still be no better off as they can't afford the build!
IMO the FPP application isn't the crucial one for CT, the Ben Bailey application on WR will be much more significant. That will show a commitment from BB- and will prove to entail a better deal for them. BB have the option to buy WR within the next 12 months- nothing concrete before- and without that sale they will never be in a position to do anything more than apply for PP. FACT.
IMO Cas will be looking at 2013 at the earliest.
(as i've said before for the benefit of the majority of Cas fans I hope GH comes off- but in the case of Amber- I hope it never happens- just to see the worm wriggle!)'"
A lot of what you say would be sensible if it wasn't riddled with such erroneous information. We don't have to find £11m.
And that press release is badly worded IMO. The money isn't to pay for PP - that was going to be done anyway. However, it recovers some of those costs for the benefit of us, which is surely a good thing, no? As for the planning permission for The Jungle, that is currently being worked on.

The future of the Hicksons site is already known. It is going to be developed over one way or another. In the meanwhile, that has nothing do with The Jungle as the restrictions have been lifted and planning permission obtained anyway.

Yep, can't fault it.
Surprised Ambers not been on ruining a decent post by a Cas fan, she's good at making false accusations and
showing up decent Cas fans.
Cue trollface any moment.

Nah, it's just getting on a bit. As they said on the Fast Show: "Driving a car is like making love to a beautiful woman."
Except this one is the equivalent of a woman with saggy breasts and wrinkles.

That's not a proper answer; yes it will be developed, but what sort of a development will it be, industrial or commercial or housing?
Quote ="Fully"In the meanwhile, that has nothing do with The Jungle as the restrictions have been lifted and planning permission obtained anyway.'"
Not exactly true. Ben Bailey may well be holding out (per their agreement until Oct 2011) to see what sort of a development goes up across the water. The houses wouldn't be worth as much if there are industrial units across they way, so there may be less profit, so little point in building with profit margins being so fine at the moment.
However I feel that the planning application you should be looking for is the housing planning permission for WR, that will show commitment from your developer and will ensure you get the funds released on time- which I honestly proves to be the case. However without that application I would be getting nervous if I were in your position.
That's not to say I don't have concerns of my own about my own teams project. Although I grow in confidence everyday!!!!
You'll get the money I have no doubt, in time... Not so sure.

There are other companies than BB, you know. I have confidence. You're right in the fact it is imperative we get the PP in. That will increase the value of the land of WR. The development across the road is going to be predominantly housing if I remember correctly. It's on the Wakey Council website anyway.

| It's only too much money if you cant afford it, Hull have plenty of money and the club have gone out and shown some ambition at last by paying a large transfer fee for a potentially excellent young british players.
I don't think Cas had any choice tehy knew he wouldn't stay beyond next year and risked letting him go for a much smaller fee, he wasn't happy there so no point in keeping him, Agar has totally changed the off field culture and is tough with the players if they step out of line, hopefully I change of club will do Westerman some good.
And Vastaman you are correct Hull had him as a junior but the money he wanted for a kid of that age was stupid.
Very happy with ths signing.

of course he his
cas cashed in on westerman and nothing more, they offered him another contract and he turned it down and they we wernt going to allow him to leave on a freebie the same has shenton which imowas a good bit of business.
dont get me wrong i would like westerman to have stayed. but what will be will be we have lost far better players over the years than westerman and the thing about cas is their is always somebody coming through that will replace them quick enough.

Now Cas fans are happy to see him go?
