| Ledgers article is an irrelevance as the arguments are patronising to two teams that he regards as the county's little teams. The fundamental point of his argument is that you can't build two grounds ten miles apart? Why not? No one has gone to St Helens and said that they shouldn't build a new ground because they could play at JJB. No one has said to Bulls that they should leave Odsal and play at Headingley, because that is less than ten miles away. And what about Widnes developing Naughton Park when they could have used Wire's new stadium? No one, because the argument only ever arises in relation to Cas and Wakey.
I know the franchise system affects the urgency, but has anyone told Salford to play at Leigh to solve their ground problem? If we can deliver a stadium, do it. If Cas can also deliver their own under their own steam, good luck to them. If not, fine, join us, but the constant call to ground share is patronising to both clubs.

John Ledger is from the Ryhill/South Hiendley area and he presently lives in Ackworth. He is an ardent cas fan and started supporting them in the 70's. He knows all about the history and culture of Cas Fev and Wakey. He also knows that even going back to the formation of SL and the Calder proposal that Wakefield have always been the most open minded and forward thinking club to share/merger proposals. He should have kept wakey out of the argument because there is only one club that is stopping his 'dream' and that is the one he supports. There will be a stadium at Stanley and if is beloved Cas don't want to play there then feck em its nothing to do with wakefield.

| Quote ="Gaslight"Why have they just agreed a deal with an architect then?
Building will start between November and Jan, and from then will take roughly 10 months to build.
Yeah it's not practical having a stadium in the town of the club, generating income for the club, community and council, nope not practical at all
'"
Who is the Architect. Just interested as usually Stadiums tend to be Design and Build by the likes of Birse who built the KC.
Also who has done the deal with the Architect, is it Castleford or the Developer.

They've agreed a deal with an architect, and he is going to design, get full planning approval, price, tender, audit, and award contracts to start construction in 6 months? That I have to see.

Thats a very good article
Wakey Council pass plans
Stanley Will be new home of wakefield
Sport eng (one of our backers) saying they'd be happy to lose BV aslong as stanleys built before, so we wont have to move while stadiums being built.

| so wakey and cas decide to share a ground... then we both have a state of the art stadium, and essentially both have a spot in SL...
...And to boot...Half the bills each presumably.
Or is it not that simple?

| Quote ="Sandal Cat"Makes sense to share a stadium but I seem to recall some time ago that this was discussed and whilst we and Wakefield MDC were happy to go with a joint stadium Castleford were adamant that they wanted their own ground.
We appear to have three choices:
1. Ground share at Glasshoughton
2. Ground share at Stanley
3. Go our own ways and hope we both or one of us gets a stadium.
I think 3 is unlikely as funding for 2 stadiums is going to be difficult to obtain as we both will be chasing the same sources of funding such as Sport England, Yorkshire Forward, Wakefield MDC etc.
Both Glasshoughton and Stanley are unpalatable to both parties but to me (I would say that wouldn't I) whilst Glasshoughton has a planning consent Stanley should be less unpalatable to Castleford than Glasshougton is to us.
I can't remember the exact distances but the Newmarket site is pretty much eqi-distant from the centre of both Wakefield and Castleford so should satisfy the both of us.
A joint stadium at Newmarket would be deliverable in my opinion.'"
Dont post this on the Cas board its far too sensible for them to comprehend.

From a neutral view, financially and businesswise it is that simple So is a merger between Cas, Fev & us
The fans are not neutral and that makes it less simple

tb is wrong, John Ledger was brought up out there which is an area were Wakey traditionally get a bit of support from. However Cas picked up a bit of support when they had the 70's team and thats when John Ledger got hooked on RL and Cas!

A former poster on here claimed (in jest) he has a Peter Sutcliffe style beard and loiters behind bushes in Thornes Park. I'm struggling to think which of the alternatives I find the most endearing, tbh.

Irrelevant information to be honest. I'm sure all journalists have their favourite sides, and not so liked sides.

I don't think we could've, given that we built ours a long time before Wires did. And the reason they didn't use ours instead of build a new one is because they didnt have to.
Neither of our clubs struggled to get one built so we're not having this problem, and you are, and this is a potential quick fix.

| if they kick cas, and wakey out will celtic, salford, sts, bulls get kicked out cause theyre dumps aswell. watched a bit of the cas game on tv and catalan fetched an handfull and while ive enjoyed my trips to france where their home support is much better, it just convinces me that the game is being stripped from the heartlands. along with the recession this is a major reason crowds are down, the cost of travelling to all away games is simply too high.
